I've spent loads of good evenings at Cox's Yard. It's the best music venue for miles and hosts a really broad range of bands. These days they've started presenting some live theatre that isn't Shakespeare, which makes a pleasant change.
Do NOT visit the Cafe!!!
I recently took my family to the Cox’s yard Cafe/family room!!!! during a great visit to Stratford…
We went into town, Shopping then visited the great play area at the end of the carpark near to cox’s and the butterfly farm and decided to go to Cox’s family cafe!!
To Summerise:-
Very, Very Dirty we cleaned a lump of something (like chocolate, we hope) off the chair and wiped down all the other chairs before sitting and then the table and our baby’s high chair, before sitting down!!!!
Disorganised!!!!
Slowwwwwwwwwww service, waited 1/2 hour for a cheese sandwich and then it never arrived!!
If you order a cream tea the tea comes first then 1/2hr later (if you query its where abouts)apparently the scone is served seperately?? my wifes tea was stone cold at this point!!
Very Very miserable staff
Don’t expect to feel welcome there
the family room is a farce, just means they dont want you in the main cafe!!
decor is terrible for a family room
a bit oldie worldie, but its a modern structure with a fully glazed wall..
Don’t go into the family room you will be forgotten!!
Tables too close and unconfortable, too many tables packed into a small room.
Terrible Tea and milk shakes so bad our 4 year old daughter would not touch it after trying it!!!! made with real icecream, the staff should taste it,,, its revolting!!!
A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WE WILL NOT RETURN>>>>> in this climate the cafe will definately go out of business within the next 12 months so perhaps we can look forward to a new one!!

This is a fun pace for all ages. It is obviously much more popular in the summer as so much of the activity is outside. THe bars are comfortable and the staff always polite (even when it gets crazy busy on a summer Saturday night. There are fun rides for very young kids and some nice gift shops. Also, as it is right next to the main park it is just a nice place to amble in and out of. My kids still miss the bungee jump in the main courtyard which was seasonal but doesn;t seem to have been there for the past 2 years. Any idea when it may come back?

Great place with a really good atmosphere.
Waiting to get served doesn’t tend to be an issue due to the two bars, and there is lots of seating, both inside and out (by the river).
They have different groups/bands etc. playing here all the time, and it is a great place to go to check out the local talent (and yes, I do mean musical!) and meet new people.
A really good place to go with a group of friends, you can normally get enough chairs to all be able to sit together and chat (if you want to).
Probably not the ideal place for a first date though … someone tried it with me, and it didn’t impress me the most.

Great pub. Always busy and fantastic outside area next to the canal - probably the best pub in Stratford if you have a group of mates getting together. Food is available, however not top end, it fills a gap…

Cox’s Yard is a small venue where many different events are held from gigs such as indie bands to gospel choirs. You are able to see the bands up close and there are two bars with plenty of places to sit both inside and outside along the river.
