As I live practically in the shadow of this church, I thought it worthwhile to review it as well. It's a beautiful attraction in Hamburg to visit and it practically has been a dominant figure in my stays in Hamburg. An ex-girlfriend of mine lived right across the street from the entrance so I was used to seeing all the tourist crowds out front and walked by often. It took a long time before I ever went up to get a view from the tower but it is worth it. You really do see a bunch, especially if the weather is right. Further, I surprise myself how often I look up to check the time on the tower as I can see if from my apartment. Bonus: saved money on a clock for that room. :-) If you have people visiting, it's definately worth a stop in to check it out and do go up to the top as this is the best part. One last point. As my gym is also in the shadow of the tower (Meridian Spa), an off-topic tip: don't look down at all the naked people out on the back terrace cooling themselves off from the sauna. You may be surprised to find them waving back!
