Bruno's Käseladen, Sternschanze, Hamburg

Excellent cheese shop in the heart of the Schanze, who really do have a bit of everything, including cheddar. I was here to buy fondue bergkäse and, although not cheap, was bloody excellent. I also learnt a new German word, würzig, which I guess means, "cheesy"! How würzig would you like this, sir? Very!

Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese!

Kasespezialaten is exceptionally cheesy. Wafts of camembert, gruyere and raclette choke the air in this tiny oasis of dairy goodness. No English spoken here, but that doesn’t matter. Pointing and gesturing tends to get you what you want and at the right size. Oh, and they have cheddar! Only mild cheddar i should add, but still, better than a kick in the face. Also a great place for fresh eggs and milk.
