Sir John Wilson Town Hall

I have been at a couple of events in here. It is clean and tidy and the outside of the building is great, but the tables and chairs they provide are like old school tables and chairs. It could do with some upgrading inside. However, it is in a great situation, near the train station and it has a bus stop right outside.

Sir John Wilson Town Hall in Airdrie is a lovely building. It is really old fashioned with a good sized stage and big high ceilings. It used to be the place in Airdrie to get married although maybe not so much now as people travel further a field now days for their big day. The main hall is huge and can seat a large number of people and for smaller events the Lesser town hall upstairs is ideal. You can also hire additional rooms so if you are getting married you can get some changing rooms for people to get changed in which is good. It is in a great location in centre of Airdrie and easily reached by bus or train.

The Town Hall has played a multi functional role in the local community over the years. From weddings, exams, dancing displays and school proms to the Proclaimers’ concerts. It’s a lovely old building containing 2 halls - the large town hall and the lesser town hall. The large hall has a balcony and there’s a place for a tuck shop/bar (depending on the type of event!). It’s really near Airdrie train station so it has great transport links.
