Lou Shang

My partner and I often walked past this restaurant without even noticing it was actually there, this is due to the restaurant being above a store.
After we were made aware that it was a cantonese restaurant, we agreed we would try it out one night.

The evening we visited was on a Sunday in April, the place was empty which put us off slightly as we seem to find that quiet places are not very popular, but we made the assumption that it was in fact the Easter weekend.

The restaurant is nicely decorated and the sounds of Chinese music playing on the system is just about right to still have a conversation with the people you are dining with.

I won’t go into boring detail about the food, but it was delicious and cooked to perfection, we had 2 courses each and had no room for anything else.

Two small suggestions would be to add toothpicks on the table, we had spare ribs for starters and had bits stuck between out teeth, also the packed hand wipes could be replaced by hot wet towels on a plate, this is not a criticism though, just a personal preference of mine.

The staff are lovely, definitely service with a smile and made us feel very welcome, we have now been at least five times and the place has been a lot busier than our first time and if you need anything then all you need to do is look over to the service area and they are straight over.

I wouldn’t say Lou Shang was the best cantonese restaurant I have tried, but it definitely is in the top 1.
