I went to the cinema (cineworld) on my recent visit to xscape. Nice big cinema, it wasn't very busy which was nice. Prices were reasonable. It;s a bit far away so I wouldn't go unless I happened to be at Xscape anyway.

Cineworld in Castleford is actually part of the Xscape complex which comprises shops, restaurants, an indoor ski slope and a bowling alley and amusement arcade. The cinema is upstairs up an escalator but there is a lift if you need one. It has plenty of choice in terms of movies and has all the regular amenities you would expect of the cinema, with clean loos, a snack bar and a small amusement area. The only issue for me is the price, it is no longer a cheap night out anymore and for even a couple going to the cinema, you could actually buy two DVDs! Yes, it’s now £13 for two people, minus any food or drink. Shocking. A rare treat. One good thing is parking is free.

Cineworld Cinema complex is situated up stairs in the Xscape building on Colorado Way, Castleford. There is a really large free car park on the site with ample Mother and toddler and disabled parking.

The Xscape building is dedicated to leisure from the cinema to skiing, bowling and fashion and sporting wear…and that’s not even mentioning the places to eat! The cinema has been opened 5 years now, and recently celebrated their 5th birthday. I took my children to the Saturday cinema that day and we were all given movie goody bags, which were really good and very generous. Like most cinemas there are multiple screens, the seats are standard although you can upgrade and go posh upstairs where you will find the bar. They serve pop corn, snacks and drinks and like most cinemas overcharge for them! But i have to admit what i really like about Cineworld is the amount of film with subtitles unlike others and the Saturday cinema which we take full advantage of most weeks. When the new children’s films are released it only takes about 8 weeks, sometimes less for them to hit Saturday cinema. There are usually 3 Saturday cinema films so its really unusual not to get seats for one of them.

The staff are friendly too!

This isn’t our closest multiplex, but it’s the one we go to more often because of the other entertainment on offer at the complex.
CineWorld Castleford is part of the Xscape complex which offers indoor ski-ing and ice skating as well as a wealth of good dining options.
This is a great place for dinner and a movie. We love Chiquitos and Frankie and Bennies, but often we’ll just grab a Starbucks coffee (which the staff always let us take into the cinema, despite the rule that says you can only take in Cineworld food and drink)
Plus, the management is very helpful - they once misadvertised a film that we’d gone to see, but wasn’t on. Instead they offered us a free screening of any film plus a voucher to see our film for free when it was finally screened.

We like this cinema, part of the Xscape complex, so plenty of places for a drink or a meal too. We especially like the Kids Club on Saturday mornings, £1 a ticket & a choice of 4 different family movies. Popcorn & drinks expensive as you expect from a cinema.

This cinema is part of the Xscape complex in Castleford, which houses loads of different activities.

The cinema has multiple screens, so you get a good range. The cinema screens are well-sized and the chairs are pretty comfortable. As with all these big cinemas the snacks are overpriced and oversized, so a small popcorn is enormous and only slightly cheaper than the large. Unnecessary, I think, as i do like to have something to snack on, but don’t need giant-sized products.

It’s a good place to go to the cinema, though, as you can easily make an evening of it and visit one of the restaurants in the complex

The cinema is conveniently located on the first floor of the Xscape complex just off Junction 32. There are the usual cheap Tuesdays and Kids’ films on the Saturday morning. They have the newest films displayed on their 14 screen cinema with free parking which is quite useful if you want to take the kids out.

Prices:

Adults: £6.30
Adults Before 5pm (Mon, Weds, Fri only): £5.30
NUS/SNR: £4.70
Child (14 and under): £4.90
VIP Seats: £8.50

In the VIP area, you have your own private bar service, and sound systen which you control. Great for birthday parties.

Afterwards you can catch a bite to eat in the many restaurants Xscape have to offer including Nandos, Ask, burger King, MA Potters, the newly opened subway as well as McDonald’s, KFC and Pizza hut just a short walk away.
