Junk Club, Southampton

Set in a good location, Junk is an alternative, 2 floor, thriving club.. It has a capacity of just over 1000 and last year 2011, was rated one of the ‘Best Small Clubs’ in the UK, coming just behind Digital in Brighton in the top 5.

It boasts genres such as DnB, Dubstep, House & Hip-hop in particular and brings some of the biggest DJ’s from around the UK, Europe and the world..
My favourite nights at Junk are either Wax (Wednesday), BangBang (Friday) and Junk Love or Cocoon (Saturday.)

Its recently invested in this sick LED lighting panel above the decks and really sets a quality vibe in the club..

The bass is heavy and its constantly looking for ways to excel itself!!
In the last couple of years, Southampton has started to develop a really exciting, cultural electronic underground scene!!

The one bad thing about the place is that the drinks prices can be relatively expensive on weekends, but meh, its a City, what u gonna do? :)

If you’ve never been, find a DJ you like thats playing there and goooooo!!

There are 2 floors upstairs and downstairs, upstairs is the main floor playing the drum & bass kind of music. and downstairs called "Junk Box" is where youll find the R&B sorts of music.

Drinks are ridiculously priced and queues can last forever.

But from the fact of the DJ's it has here it deserves a 5Star just for that alone. i haven't seen Deadmouse anywhere in Southampton except from here. Also the resident DJ's have got good skills aswell

Very trendy, and expensive in the same, but hosts some top name D.J’s and has some good music nights! Definitely more tasted towards the dance, house, and r and b music scenes.

Situated On London Road between Morris Dibben And Rymans the stationers. Used to be home to For Your Eyes Only.

This place plays house, funky house, tech house, alternative and is a cool venue to hang out in especially at the weekends.

This is a small venue - but not as small as rhino which is a horrible claustrophic place to be ! downstairs of rhino is a joke really...

I would say as well that there are usually big ques at the weekend so get to the club early. Prices for drinks are very expensive and like other places in bedford place, has the pretensious people there posing... yawn! Zzzzz

Overall ok venue, nothing special.

Junk, the funky, techy, blippy house scene alternative in southampton. A cool, funky, electric venue which is always rammed at the weekends, and rightly so.

This place is only small, and contained within one floor, but crams all of the funk left in southampton to the point where it’s bursting at the seams.

Get yourself here early to avoid the queue, but not too early that you’re waiting for another human to arrive.

This palce really appeals to the students as it can be a natural progression from orange rooms or mono to here to finsh off the night. Great website to check out too.
