Complete dive. When I went, the smell of vomit was overpowering!

Beautiful old building, so much character…

I only found this place last month, after my sister invited me out to a 'carwash’ night. Fantastic evening had all round. Staff were friendly, toilets were CLEAN, serivce was quick!

It was a little dead, but as it’s such a huge venue - it would take alot for it to be packed out.

Overall, great. Def going back.
I found parking in the tesco car park down the road was easiest for me, i dont know oxford very well. cheap and only a 5 min walk ;o)

Great atmosphere and lovely to see all the new local bands! Not only do you get to see the local ones but JLS are playing in April too! They seem to cater for everything - keep an eye on what’s on as they really do throw the best nights from foam nights to mini-concerts!

This is truely a spectacular building and has real atmosphere. I went this week to see a band and the two supporting bands were pretty good too. There is one small problem, they currently have a theatre licence and so while an act is on you can only buy soft drinks from the main bar and you need to go upstairs to the other bar to get beer etc.
The ladies toilets are wonderful and they even have two of the new double toilets! My other half said the mens loos were a bit rank though.
The staff are friendly and are part of the nightsafe scheme and so drugs are not in existence which makes it a nice safe place to go.
Alongside the main dance area are banks of comfy chairs and I managed to see the whole gig in comfort!
Well worth a visit!

Review of The Regal from 29 April 2008

The Regal was originally an Art Deco cinema.

It was then the famous Cowley Road bingo hall.

The building is now listed and was recently reopened as a club and music venue.

It is open nightly and when it’s not a bar and club, it is a dance hall for salsa classes and is available for private hire.

The Grand Room is totally huge and still has the orginal cinema seating in it.

The interior is fabulous, breathtaking actually. Hard to describe, so go have a visit!
