But we decided to spend our evening at the "Maze Grill", which specializes in - you guessed it - various cuts of excellent steaks, fresh from the grill. The interior design is kept quite simple but comfy and you don't have the impression that your neighbour can hear each and every word you speak. As a special feature, Maze Grill offers a table called "butcher's block". It's like a kitchen table, but on an elevated level between the kitchen and the rest of the restaurant, so you can observe what's going on in the kitchen and the restaurant.
We had one waitress who was responsible for our table the whole night. Additionally, a wine waiter helped us choosing the right wine, according to our taste and the selected meal. The wine list comes on an iPad, where you can read several information about the restaurant's wine selection. If you're interested in a special wine, you can put it on a wish list. It's like shopping and putting things in your shopping cart. Honestly, this procedure makes no sense. Okay, it's fun and it adds to your dining experience. But wine experts don't need this kind of tool and novices like us put our faith in the sommelier. Whose wine recommendation was absolutely excellent, by the way.
The menu card reminded me more of a steak house, as it was on paper and very well-arranged. To ease your selection of the different meat types, the waitress brought us a wooden board, where she explained the different cuts to us, like dry-aged, sirloin, rib-eye and so on. Regarding the origin of the meat, you can choose between the Aberdeen Angus, the Dedham Vale, the USDA prime and a Wagyu.
As starters, we chose the Maze Grill sliders and crispy fried squid with pepper & lime. Also, we both chose the Deadham Vale Sirloin 10oz with parmesan truff fries, steamed spinach and sauce bernaise as our main course. It was nothing short but fabulous! The sliders, which are small hamburgers, were made very simple. But you could taste every ingredient and the paddy was grilled to perfection. The steaks were presented on a wooden butcher's board with knifes from Laguiole, plugged into the board, the blade protected by a piece of paper, where the ordered degree of doneness is printed on. Aside from these details, our complete meal was nothing short but absolutely perfect.
Alltogether, our visit at "Maze Grill" was not inexpensive but worth every penny. The athmosphere is excellent, the staff friendly. And the food delicious!
Been here a few times and we are never disappointed. The food is fabulous., the best steak i’ve ever had… The staff are very friendly and have great knowledge on the large choice of wines available as they do with the food menu also. We have always felt relaxed and never felt pushed through our meal. The place is very modern, there has always been a great atmosphere when we’ve visited. very good prices., They also have an excellent choice of cocktails and other beverages in the bar area. Can’t wait to go back.
