Richard James (Savile Row)

While I was completely lost in translation in my four week holiday in Tokyo,
I then came across this beautiful Savile Row store in Tokyo Midtown, Roppongi Hills.

It came to my discovery that the retail prices of the UK imported Savile Row goods in Japan are hideously expensive.
But the goods are hard-to-find back home in the UK.

Nonetheless, the retail staff seem really nice and very friendly, unlike London. So I asked the manager of this Richard James store, 先生こんにちは、お元気ですか。私はロンドン、イギリスから来ました。私は周りを見ている場合はいい？ (which translates as: Hello sir, how are you. I’m from London, England. Mind if I have a look around?)

And so I did. The cufflinks are exclusive for the Richard James
Tokyo branch and they were made in the UK, for Japanese export only.

I have to admit that I have never seen such cufflinks like this in the UK.

I asked them if I can take a few photos with my Leica camera, and they said, “はい、あまりにも多くすることはできませんが、” (which translates as: “Yes you can, but too many”), I said thank you in Japanese to the retail store manager and he seems really polite and civil.
