THE MOST UNFRIENDLY PUB IN LEAMINGTON SPA.

Yep, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Leamington does actually have a bad pub! I’ve lived here for 5 years now and love Leamington and its businesses.

We went into the Prince of Wales for the first time since new owners took over, and genuinely never experienced anything like it in any pub we’ve ever been in before.

Basically just went in for a business lunch and a drink – nothing unusual there you’d think. So we ordered the drinks from a guy that can only be described as a low-grade Paul Weller wannabe. Not only did he model himself on some 70’s has-been, but also had the customer service attitude of someone from that era too…

It went like this:

…please can we order some drinks and food…? YES
…order drinks… SERVED (no problems there)
…can we order food…? NO – PAY FOR YOUR DRINKS FIRST
…but we want drinks and food – can’t we pay together?… NO – YOU PAY FOR DRINKS THEN FOOD….
…okay (handed credit card for drinks)….WE DON’T TAKE CARDS
…oh right – great pub this….WE LIKE IT (no smile)
…paid for drinks in cash – of course didn’t order food

Obviously we can’t get over this guys full and inadequate bar tendering abilities in this review (and basic social skills), however, take it from us this guy was the WORST bar person not only Leamington but all places we’ve been in the world.

IN SUMMARY:
Staff Attitude = VERY VERY VERY VERY Bad
Food = Don’t know as obviously didn’t want to eat
Ambiance = VERY VERY Cold (no heating)
Beer = Normal

There are LOADS of very good and friendly pubs in Leamington like the Clarendon and The White Horse – please don’t waste your money / time in such a badly run pub with inadequate and rude bar staff.

As for why they are running TWO tills in ONE pub then your guess is as good as mine. I can only assume it’s for some dodgy accounting tax purposes (seriously have you ever heard of two tills in one pub).

Not long until this places closes down (again) I think!.
