I am devastated about the closure of TJs and the death of John Sicolo (owner of TJs). I have so many great memories of the place. I used to love going there every Friday. It was such a great rock bar, it was probably the best one in Newport. It was one of those places that was very much for alternative people. If you were a normal person, you would probably get some funny looks and if you were a chav, you probably wouldn't get inside the place at all lol. It was an awesome music venue too. There were always some great live bands playing, signed or unsigned. I've seen some kick ass bands in there like Hatebreed, Architects and Sikth to name a few. I've been told that someone has bought TJs so I hope it reopens and the owner makes the place the way it's always been. An alternative bar for alternative people.

Will be sorely missed, spent many a night here and have a lot of good memories. Thank you TJs!!

This is a cool place to see live bands and gigs. It tends to be a place for Indie/alternative and creative people and gets popular on Friday and Saturday evenings. It can get a bit dirty, or should I say 'grungy’ and if you do a bit of 'moshing’ or 'head banging, mind your head on the low ceilings as people have been known to bang their heads. It has a good lively atmosphere. You may be judged by what you wear – turning up in stylish fashionable high street clothing will cause you to be frowned upon (so beware lol)

Excellent venue for live music with a good variety of rock, punk, ska and other alternative music.
Host to a fun club night too and reasonable priced drinks
