The Far Pavillion

I think this is one of the better restaurants in the area. The atmosphere and food are good.

Thought this was a brilliant restaurant especially for the Sunday buffet, until I took my mum for her birthday. We’d had a couple of visits to the buffet and at the end of the meal her boyfriend popped in to meet us to go to the pub. Both our plates were empty except for a bit of curry sauce and there was a little bit of naan bread left. So my mums boyfriend tore off a bit of the bread and dipped into the sauce. When I asked for the bill, we had been charged an extra £9 and when I queried it the manager said it was because we had shared the food! I could understand if we had nipped back up to the buffet and got some food for him to tuck into, but this was left overs that had been on the table for 20 minutes!

Needless to say I was disgusted and won’t be visiting again. I just wish I’d stood my ground and refused to pay the additional charge.

Whilst the interior might be a bit dated (hence 3*), the food here is good. Huge portions and a huge menu too. Set meals for 2 are excellent value, but the food just keeps on coming. Tandoori plates are excellent especially the prawns and a wide range of curries. The desert of fruit chopped at the table is welcome after all the curry. The booth tables by the windows are the best, but it fills quickly at weekend. Wine is cheap either by the bottle or caraffe.
