Horrid, Horrid, Horrid…Laroash has been there a while and does appears to be a staple for those too drunk to realise that hygiene is not a word of association with this place.
The “price to pay” the following day is actually a case of food poisoning. The freshest thing in there would be the tinned drinks. The place is filthy dirty, the rice and curry is kept warm in a Ban-Marie, then heated in a microwave oven, to order…?
Please consider this, the same guy who helpfully serves you, prepares your Pitta or Naan with their bare hands, fills it with your chosen filling, pours your chosen dressing, wraps it up, and takes you’re money (with the same hands), and does the same for the next bloke, who has just had a pee behind the taxi rank over the road.
Question -Which one washed their hands?...Answer..Neither! I watched it happen, threw my kebab in the bin, went back in and complained… I can’t repeat the response here! Basic food hygiene - Money handlers should not serve food, without thoroughly washing their hands, between each customer.
Can’t believe it? Just watch for yourself (if you are sober enough!)
Its not just the price to you’re wallet you should consider, if you choose to eat here.
Late at night, there can often be an air of aggression and physical threat, this comes from drunken fellow customers (and occasionally, their, even more drunk, girlfriends). The staff are friendly enough.
I had visited Laroash for a number of years until the above occurred. My mates and I avoid the place completely and would never eat there again.
Pretty good kebab shop next door to Ealing Broadway station. They pile on minimal amounts of salad, along with garlic mayo, minty yoghurt and a fairly spicy chilli sauce to make a tasty kebab for sober people as well as the drunk.
They do, however, cut the chicken shawarma with onions sometime, for bulk as well as flavour, which is rather annoying for a kebab heathen like myself who eschews the onion.
They serve their kebabs in pitta or freshly cooked naans and also sell some curries, tandoori chicken and chicken wings. All are pretty good, although there is occasionally a price to be paid the next day.
It’s quite pricy, which is its main downfall, but a fairly constant pitstop for me since I arrived in Ealing.
Fun Fact: it was featured in an episode of Men Behaving Badly as one of the places that Gary and Dorothy went to celebrate an anniversary.
