10 reviews of Joe's Kitchen in English
I work around the corner from this cafe and tend to go there quite often for lunch with colleagues. I think the eat-in food is pretty good and their smoothies and fresh juices are great. The coffee is hit and miss, sometimes great, others (as with other reviews for this establishment) far too strong and bitter.
The waiting staff are by and large very friendly and seem quite efficient, however I agree that the manager is not friendly and is far too busy to smile or seem pleased to have customers.
The take out food is not so great – walking past this morning I had a craving for bacon sandwiches and I have just had a nice latte, with a sandwich on yesterday’s bread which appears to have been left out over night with some very chewy, very cold bacon inside.
So I think this is a great lunch place – but not somewhere to try for bacon sandwiches!

Lovely looking place inside, felt relaxed. The music was just a little loud and coffee quite strong. There wasn’t a big selection of Danish pastries for breakfast but I guess that’s not really what you come here for, the breakfast menu looks fantastic! Would come here again to try the menu.
The rudest service of any restaurant I have ever been to. The waiter actually wanted to start a fight! The manager told us "Sorry, we're just knackered." No excuse. Food is just plain in any event. Skip it.
Very average....it's all very subjective but I found it lacking atmosphere, character and most importantly nice food. The service is cold although they are efficient, a smile or welcome wouldn't go a miss. You feel that they are trying to get as many people in and out as possible and as a consequence you can't relax and attempt to ease your hangover. The tables are rammed very close together so you can't read a paper of spread out which was annoying. The food, ok, at best acceptable. Our sandwiches were sitting on the hot plate for 5 minutes before they arrived so they were hot and very dry, not great. The coffee was horrible, I like a nice coffee and this wasn't any better than an instant coffee. Advice, stay at home and make your own and stop being so lazy!

I went here for breakfast one sunday, it was great! I’m really addicted to poached eggs and holondaise sause so I was really exited to see their bubble and squeek with poached egg and holondaise sause. The atmosphere was friendly and everyone seemed to be very happy. The bright decor and wooden floor created a nice bubbly morning for us.
The one disapointment was with the coffee. The cappuccino was excessivly bitter and the milk was over heated like most places and built up like a castle. If they just popped down the road to Monmouth coffee roasters and got some advice I’m sure this place would be perfect!
Overall a great place.

I love this place and visit almost once a week. Really nice setting and well thought out menu. I wish it opened in the evening.
I have only given this 3 stars because the service and food standard sometimes drops. Very inconsistent.
Feels like an All Bar One equivalent of a cafe, average food with appalling service from the manager -he was rude even before we sat down. When I went up to him to provide feedback on his rudeness, he denied it and waved me off - obviously too busy tending to his important customers! The only redeeming quality of this place is the good waitresses. Perhaps the manager should take a lesson in hospitality from his staff. I wouldn’t ever go back again, if only there were negative stars…
if you tire of the costly and crowded places to eat around borough market, this place will give you what you need. basic good food on large plates with efficient service, the weekend papers to read and a cosy atmosphere. unfortunately it closes at 2pm on weekends but long enough to warm you if you are braving the crowds thames side.
Having only been to Joe’s Kitchen for breakfast and brunch I can only give a rating for those options. The wooden tables and old school chairs give it a lovely homely feel and the staff are very helpful with a couple of outstanding waitresses who make all the difference.
The service is very dependent on the weather though, on a sunny weekend expect it to be packed out by 11am, unfortunately the level of service goes down considerably during these busy times and the place sometimes seems to be desperately short staffed.
Overall I enjoy the convenience and slow pace of Joes, a lazy morning spent reading the Sunday papers and drinking multiple lattes is my idea of a day well spent, if you like the same then head over there with a mild hangover and you’ll feel much better by the time you leave.
Joe’s Kitchen is a funky restaurant just moments around the corner from Borough tube station. The serve a mixture of American (Burgers for examples) and British dishes with a modern twist. The menu resembles what you would find in a pub, but better quality, smaller portions, and higher prices.
The décor is modern and you would be happy bringing a business client here for lunch.
Last time I was here I ordered a steak pie and mashed potato. Unfortunately I was disappointed as the mash was included inside the pie itself. This meant that the dish was much smaller than expected, although costing almost £10.
They have two beers on tab (Stella and Petermans when I last visited), although there are also bottled beers available plus a wine list which I have not yet sampled.
The restaurant is fairly large, and they also have some tables with benches which are suitable for groups of ~10 people.
