avalon night club, San Jose

This place used to be Bullwinkle’s before it turned into Backbeat, then Avalon. Geez…I came here for my friend’s birthday and it was wack. A bunch of my girls wanted to get wasted and dance.
Anyway, we didn’t stand in line for too long nor did we pay for cover luckily because we knew two of the guys that were throwing an event here. $20 for cover to get inside! You are greeted by rude bouncers and a wack-ass cashier lady who just wanted to take your damn money. Drinks are $8 or 9 for shots depending on the bartender so you might want to pre-drink. There is a stage area where the DJ is set up. Dancefloor is pretty big and there’s a few VIP booths which none were in use. This place is pretty large in size to fit a big event, but nobody seems to like coming here. I guess it’s because the security is always anal about everything and the people are only in it for your money. Sad…loosen up people! Overall…I wouldn’t have had any fun if it wasn’t for the people I was with. I had to give two stars for a clean bathroom and a lot of room to dance.
