grrrrreat location/garden - especially in summer, when you can sit outside till late night. cocktails are extraordinary but they taste good, cheap other drinks.
sometimes with live-music/dj. but that is definitely not the main fact about "the hobbit" as mentioned above.
One of 'The' venues in Southampton. Especially fab are the summer bank holiday events, as the garden is a great place to hang out and enjoy a bevvy. Great live music too :)
I love this place! The cocktails are something else, and i’d take a trip to the Hobbit just for them. They follow a Lord Of The Rings theme, of course. There are 5 different and very yummy concoctions to choose from.
The Hobbit also has a massive garden, perfect for those lazy afternoons and summer evenings. Also perfect for a huge gathering of friends, as there are plenty of seats outside, something you don’t see in many city pubs.
The Hobbit has live music every week, and often has themed DJ nights too. Always fun, and like i say, great lace for a gathering of friends.
My only complaint with the Hobbit is the toilets, they are not the cleanest of places to pee, but you can overlook them (mostly) for the atmosphere and and cheap drinks prices.
This pub has a great atmosphere, it is not immaculate but welcomes everyone. Every other Wednesday is Garyoke where one man (Gary) stands on stage with his guitar and entertains a room full of 20 some things who think they are 5 again. It is brilliant make sure you energetic that night as singing and dancing along are mandatory!
Whenever we visit ours friends in Southampton, we will go here.
The pub is very friendly with a very good selection of drinks. The pub is set over two levels and has a large outdoor area. The is some times a live band on in the lower area.
I love this place, I would write more but I did tend to have fuzzy memories of this pub. Why would that be? ;-)
A worthwhile pub to go to. Its well situated at the top of the hill of clubs and pubs. The perfect place to start before going on to a good student night out.
It is a pub with a nice and sometimes slightly weird atmosphere which is great. The variety of alcohol is great, and the specifically named drinks based on lord of the rings characters is a nice touch. If its a good night the pub is usually very full, but that is not much of an issue as there are 2 levels where you can sit inside, and another large area where you can sit outside.
Although I have not been at the pub during gigs, I have heard that its great and I wouldn’t mind going there to see a gig at some point.
Welcome to Southampton alternative pub scene! Caters for all sorts of people, wonderful atmosphere. Bit of something for everyone, live bands, rock music, trance dj’s at weekends, pool table, huge garden with shelter and loads of tables, 2 bars and sometimes food on occasions as well!
Great for meeting friends in and a warm friendly welcoming atmosphere!
The Hobbit is a great place to go, especially on the weekend. There are very few good weekend places in Southampton in my opinion but the Hobbit is definately one of the top of my list. Its grungy so you really have to appreciate that scene to enjoy it but if you do you’ll have a great time. Drinks are cheap and people are friendly. There is a massive garden area too if you’re a smoker or out in a big crowd.
Well i love this place: the music is great, the atmosphere is great and it is a sgrotty and untidy yet friendly and downt ot earth as a good old fshioned alterntaive/goth/punk pub should be, nothing trendy about it, you get what you expect. The actual music venue is a bit too small unfortunately but you can hear evertyhing from the beer garden. The ;prices are ok but beware: the coke is a cheap knockoff. And the toilets are very often… well not private.
This pub is officially (in my opinion) the bestest pub in Southampton!! Has a Lord of the Rings stylee going on, which even if your not a fan is still an amazing place to go for a pint. The Fellowship which is 5 different drinks in eithe rpints or shots each called after a LOTR character taste amazing. The garden which is like some fairy tale fantasy garden is gorgeous, the prices are fantastic, and the live music and events they have on are all amazing. Such a fantastic atmosphere!!!
