I quite often come here when I have a nursery project!
They have loads of variety of all art items and crafts.
The range is excellent too ranging from young childrens craft up to all age ranges.

Some stuff can be quite expensive but on the whole they have a good range at affordable prices.

The seasonal items are brilliant and at Easter and xmas they have plenty of choice and variety

This is a good sized Hobbycraft with everything you could ever want inside. It is located on Ventura Shopping Retail Park so there is plenty of free parking with good opening hours.
Hobbycraft is well laid out and it is quite easy to find certain hobby areas. They sell a large amount of craft items and anything you can think of they have including a few things that you wouldn’t expect like complete picture framing accessories with loads of different sizes and colours to chose from.

This place is great for creating a masterpiece of your own around Christmas time or Easter or Valentines Day.

The only downside is they can be a little pricey. However, having said that there are frequent money off coupons in the local Tamworth Heralds around about school holidays times so well worth looking out for one of those.

Review of Hobbycraft from 12 December 2008

When Lawrence Llwellyn Bowen came flouncing onto our screens with a flick of his locks and a rustle of his frilly cuffs he brought with him Interior design to the masses. He and his cronies dumbed it down and bigged it up until society really thought they could do it themselves. Only problem was it was probably done very badly, with little flair, and no tecnical expertise. Hobbycraft is much the same.

I always feel that this is a place to occupy those with no creative thoughts in their own head and too little time on their hands. On the one hand coming from a Fine Art background myself I am kind of glad that people are trying to make and do at all … its just its all soooo twee and derived.

Ok controversial rant over.

They sell a huge array of paints, canvasses, sewing/embroidery, and craft materials. They sell model making kits and gift sets, dried flowers and balloons. You name it and they probably have it. And its huge. But vastly overpriced.

The thing for me is if you know what you want and what you are doing and you just want craft materials - its alot cheaper on the net. However if you do want idiot-proof step by step instruction on how to be 'arty’ this is probably the place for you.

Certain friends of mine will argue that this is a great place to get kids involved. Maybe it is , and call me a scrooge, but my kids will be collecting worms, feathers and leaves and making collages from them just like I used to do.

A great review! I am so glad I am not the only one who thinks this place is for bored surburbians with too much money who like to make their own greetings cards. What’s wrong with collecting leaves..covering them in paint and printing them? Early Learning, The Works, and Wilko plus many other places have cheap fun art products.

I’m with you here. Prefer daughter to dry her own flowers, press leaves onto clay, paint stones and shells. I find the discount stores much better, and daughter makes great jewellery with beads that cost nothing virtually. We gather stones, leaves, bark, cones, much more fun!

I totally agree, apart from the worms. Not ideal for collages.

I would have given it 5 stars because there is nothing you can’t find here.
The staff are usually very helpful in my experience.
Things are labelled up and laid out very clearly so things are easy to find.

Only downside is most of the things in there are very pricey. But when its items that you can’t buy anywhere else I would say you can’t blame them for it!

Some things are great value like the gift sets, they aren’t usually over the top expensive.

Matalan is such a great store for everything 'arts and crafts’.

They sell things for people of all ages and skill groups so if you’re bored on day, go down to Hobby Craft and you will definitley find something to do.

Some of the things can be quite expensive but it’s definitley worth it as the quality of the things they sell is very high.

It’s a very big shop though and there’s something to look at down every aisle so make sure you give yourself plenty of time if you’re planning a trip there!

got to be 5 stars.
if you are into your arts and crafts, then this is the place for you. has pretty much everything you can think of.
into model making or dolls houses, they’ve got it.
knitting, cross stitching, painting, card making - loads of things to choose from.
with leaflets available to offer help and advice, its great if you are starting a new hobby.
they also have a lot available for kids arts and crafts.
now on two floors, there is even more to choose from, and with a lift, it is wheelchair friendly.
upstairs they have a huge range of fake flowers and stuff to help you make wedding fovours, tiaras, bouquets etc.
