I Love Frank’s. They have created a cozy bohemian atmosphere and serve really tasty, fresh cooked food, delicious drinks- coffees, teas & extensive beer, wine & the more exotic, too. Friendly folk waiting on tables. Willing and able to accomodate my fussy eating habits. Such a nice vibe. Whether for a quick bite, an afternoon of chatting over tea, a relaxed lunch, playing their many board games into the evening with friends, a divine dinner or the very best Sunday Brunch in Norwich – Frank’s is it!!!
Like my very own dream sitting room!

Funky little place that I stumbled upon on the way back to my hotel. Situated in the lovely old part of town, this place just screamed out “come in”.
The night was cold and dark, and the bar was warm and welcoming.
Find a table, sit down and have a gander over the long wine list. Waiter service for drinks and a preppy crowd – combined with a real buzz made this a great end to the night.
Really friendly, well priced, nicely chilled. It’s going to become a regular haunt for me.

the all day breakfast was well worth the price…nicely cooked and with lots of flavour…with a pint of green king it was a good way to fill up before the game at carrow road…we’ll be back for more….
I love this place. Found it on a filthy wet day when I needed shelter; it's the best umbrella I know! Excellent food & drink, totally relaxed, friendly staff; I head there whenever I've the chance.
Really, really nice place. Laid back atmosphere in a good location.

Excellent place to drink and eat.
A relaxed, studenty type decor (tired journalism I know but I'm walking and typing so will suffice for the time being.)
Service was prompt and very happy go lucky, I like that. Drinks were reasonably priced and the food was very good vfm. I had the bream and butterbean stew which was plentiful and cooked to perfection.
All in all a very relaxed and laid back atmosphere. I shall return and can heartily recommend it.
Absolutely wonderful place. The food is excellent and such good value for money. It is the perfect place for lunch as well as being open until three for a couple of margharitas before bedtime. The drinks list is extensive and the coffee is delicious too. It is table service so if you can’t get a table, you can’t get served. The staff are attentive and very friendly. I really can’t praise this place enough. Even the toilets are lovely and worthy of a mention.
Frank’s Bar is a real gem and a credit to Norwich which has become overrun with smelly chain bars with no personality and cheap booze. If you like that kind of homogeneous thing then fine, but steer well clear of Frank’s Bar. It’s lush.
A lovely lovely bar. Excellent service. And before anyone else tries it, the very pretty barmaid is married…. :s
Apparently on this here Qype malarky we're allowed to blow our own trumpet, so here goes:
We have filled our bar with good food, top drinks, marvellous music and general chilled-outness. We're happy for you to enjoy Frank's Bar in a range of different ways, whether it be with a coffee, glass of of wine, full blown meal, or cheeky nibbles we're really quite flexible. We like to make Sunday's special as well by offering a fantastic Sunday Breakfast menu (served from 11.00 - 6.00) and a classic afternoon film (screened in the back room) along with the usual selection of great coffee, good papers to peruse and general loveliness.
Got to spread the love for Frank’s Bar, not that it needs it given that it always seems to have people in, enjoying themselves. I love the slightly chaotic layout in the front area, with comfy seating of a myriad of different types. There’s plenty of papers to read and games/books to occupy yourself as well. The coffee is lovely, big cup, strong and nice, and the cakes are delicious fuel for surviving Norwich centre on a Saturday. I’ve not tried the seemingly legendary breakfasts on Sunday yet, but I’ll definitely pop in now…
One last echo of this review, Frank’s Bar is located in a pretty nice part of the centre, near the cinema and the non-chain store shopping, so it’s well worth snooping around after a coffee to see what you can find.
What a great little bar. Tucked away down Bedford Street, it’s quirky and different. Its as thought someone’s actually thought about the things that would make a really nice place to hang out, then done exactly that. Friendly staff, great drinks that flow as fast or as slow as you need them, comfy shabby chic furniture and really nice food. Much like my own front room in fact. Except bigger. And with more people to talk to. Best of all they have an old tea trolly like my Nan used to have loaded up with old boardgames. Grab a bottle of wine and settle in for a Scrabble-a-thon. Or try something more intellectual. Like Guess Who. Top marks.
A lovely little bar, tucked away in Norwich!
The staff are always friendly and there is a large selction of drinks and home made cakes.
There are some sweet touches, such as a selection of board cames and movies on a sunday afternoon.
Franks Bar is the kind of place everyone needs to know about. Small, quirky and full of character, its a great place to eat a meal, go for some drinks or even watch a movie, provided you go on a Sunday. Great prices, great food and a great atmosphere. Its even lovelier in the summer, what with the outdoor seating.
Frank’s Bar is situated in a fairly central quiet part of Norwich off a cobbled alley called Bedford Street. It’s only been open a few months so I have only had the pleasure of visiting it once.
The décor is very simplistic yet stylish with plain walls and furniture that does not match. It’s very clean and spacious with two floors and a beer garden.
Frank’s Bar is a bit different to any other pub/bar in Norwich as a table service is provided instead of ordering your drinks at the bar. Maybe the owners are going for a continental vibe? If so, I liked it as it meant I didn’t have to keep making trips to the bar all night.
I didn’t try the food, but the drinks menu has a massive range of beverages all at a reasonable price. I stuck with the Guinness and the quality was very good. I often find that too many pubs serve bad Guinness!
A friend told me that on Sundays they play classic films from the 80’s and recommended it as good place for a first date. Make of that what you will, but I’m in! However, if you turn up and they’re showing Cocoon 2, I doubt they’ll be second date.
Although I’ve only been to Frank’s Bar once, it left a good impression on me and I would definitely go again. Highly recommended!
