Stick & Bowl

I am often around High St Ken for big shopping days and therefore want a cheap meal that fills me up and propells me out to hit the shops once more!

Stick and Bowl has been a favourite of mine since I was about 15, it has been here for years and will probably stay for many more years because it is such good value food. I don't think they have ever updated the decor and that is no problem because everyone who is in there is literally just popping in to get fed and pop out again.

I definitely recommend it! Also it is a great little place to eat if you are on your own because it has those window bars and you are distracted.

Fancy a nice cheap quick and tasty Chinese lunch while on High Street Ken? Then the Stick & Bowl is your place. This bustling small Chinese joint is always packed and serves tasty food -- generally Cantonese dishes -- fast and for a good price. Some of the food is a bit greasy and their Singapore noodles don;t quite hit the spot spice-wise but all in all a good place to know in a zone full of overpriced competition and Whole Foods.

This High Street Kensington noodle bar is very old favourite of mine, as much for its Formica counters, glossy blue tiled behind-the-counter bar display and its koi murals adorning two walls as for its gorgeous dishes. The place is tiny (with hardly enough room for a stick or bowl) but exceptionally tidy and clean. The Stick & Bowl is also one of very few businesses on High Street Ken with any real character and charm. And the food is brilliant too. I mean, really hit the spot kinda meals. #21, dry fried hofun, is about as comforting as comfort food can be and #24, noodles soup with roast duck, roast pork or crispy pork is a marvel (especially on a winter night). Eating here is a bargain too! All but two dishes are under £6! The Stick & Bowl is a gem of a place that stands out for its charm and value.
