6 reviews of Karda Beauty in English
I just re-read by accident, the comments of other clients on other sites and was almost frightened to go back.
Still, I went on 1st February at 12h30.
I guess they had read all previous negative comments as now on the contrary everyone was VERY FRIENDLY .
I was even offered a complimentary coffee
I had a haircut and color with DOROTHY . She speaks english well. She could remember me clearly from my past visits .
The color that SHE chose is PERFECT for me and the CUT is PERFECT as well.
I paid £40 which for wash - color - cut - blow dry is an EXTREMELY GOOD DEAL.
I am always surprised how much people on Groupon can complaint and want all for nothing.
I live in KNIGHTSBRIDGE and I would say I am a demanding client.
I RECOMMEND the hairdresser DOROTHY at KARDA WITHOUT HESITATION.

Despite the location - South Kensington - and the pretentious decor, the salon is run down (worn wall coverings) and unclean. Heaps of brushes stare from the trolleys wrapped in a blanket made of layers of different people's hair. Yuck! The sun shines right through the high glass windows and with no cooling system inside, sitting in the waiting row of chairs by the entrance or at the first work position by the window was like been roasted in the oven. Despite the hot day there was no offer of drinks and I had to ask for a glass of water. The staff were at best of times indifferent, but when confronted on any issue, outright rude. My choice of colour was totally ignored (and ended up several shades darker than my original colour), I had to insist to have a skin protecting cream to prevent the dye from staining my skin, which is normal routine anywhere else. The developing time was extended well after the due time to accommodate the needs of the "stylist" and allow her to finish off another victim, before I could be washed! During the whole colouring procedure and while blow-drying my hair, the "stylist" never payed me any attention, (except once for emphasizing how much gray hair I had! - which of course made me feel good) Instead, she continued an animated conversation in an Eastern European Language with the rest of the personnel, idling sitting around us.
Even the hairwash was disappointing: rough, uncomfortable and on the whole, unprofessional. When it came to cutting ... well, I refused to have her scissors onto my hair, having watched her with other clients! and I still thank my presence of spirit! From what I was able to see the cutting skill was limited to the random use of thinning scissors. There were no decent styles produced while I was there. On the whole, however, as I had a Groupon voucher and only paid £39.00 for a full colour, wash and blow-dry, I was prepared to overlook the shortcomings, but this salon is definitely not worth the £160.00 full price. There was also a strange atmosphere, with lots of comings and goings of people walking in and disappearing in the back through a small door in the wall and up a narrow staircase, presumably for beauty treatments and massage ... nevertheless the whole setting was more evocative of some other alternative activity

I got up and walked out. I know scammers when I see them. Clearly their policy for Groupon vocher holders was that your hair was too this; too that; too the other and, because it was 'too this, too that, too the other, you had to pay more for them to carry through the Groupon deal.
I am now complaining to Groupon and will be asking for a full refund.
AVOID!
