King Harold's Head

This pub used to be very good for food. I visited them with my husband one Sunday evening and was so disappointed to find the standard had dropped dramatically. There were 4 other diners in there which for a restaurant which holds approx 60 people, told the story. I had prawn cocktail for my starter, which consisted of about a spoonful of prawns that were very wet and not very tasty. For £4.95 this was a complete rip-off. I had roast beef which had clearly been cooked at lunchtime and warmed up. The potatoes were almost black and practically inedible. The Yorkshire puddings were rock hard where they had been warmed up in the microwave. The vegetables were like mush, cooked any longer they would have been soup. The only decent part of the meal was the roast beef, which was a generous portion.

I actually think I prefer the food served in hospital to this restaurant.

The service was not too good either. We had our first drink and my husband had to ask for a second. He gave his order to the waitress and she didn’t even bother asking if I wanted another drink, before she rushed away. We had to wait until she came back and then ask. She was more interested in her mobile phone than keeping customers satisfied.

I would definitely NOT use this restaurant again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. A complete waste of money.
