CUBE CLUB

I spent four nights at Cube for Drop Dead Festival. I did quite like the warehouse type look but it was still not an enjoyable experience; in fact I think this is my least favourite venue that I've been to (and I've been to a lot of places - mainly in the UK but also some in Berlin, Köln, Stockholm etc). The security / bouncers were by far the worst part of the club. They violently pushed me aside while "removing" another patron even though there was plenty of space to go around me - luckily I didn't fall down the stairs. They were also rude when I asked a question, he made a noise and then ignored me. At first I wondered if it was because he didn't speak English but a few minutes later I heard him speaking English to someone else...

Some of my friends also had bad experiences with the security, and I've heard stories of much much worse than what happened to me. However in line with rules of this website I will only relate my personal experiences. Some of the other comments on here mention other people's experience with the security.

It was a very cold venue. I don't think it was heated, it certainly didn't feel like it was. There was a wait at the bar for drinks, although to be fair I've experienced worse in the UK. Beer was 3 Euro for a 0.33L bottle (4 Euro + a token).

Unfortunately I can't speak German, otherwise I would have written this review in German to reach more people. Hopefully it will be of use to the many Germans who also speak English.

One of the comments on here is from the owners of the Cube. It's in German so I had to use Google Translate but they seem to be saying "there are two sides to this story". However they don't explain what their side is and I would be interested in an explanation of the behaviour of their security.

Good points
- Crumbly underground warehouse feel to the venue
- Nice toilets

Bad points
- Cold inside the venue
- Drink prices
- Terrible attitude and behaviour of the security staff


It's hard to enjoy yourself when the club's own staff make you feel threatened, so I recommend people avoid this venue.

drop dead festival.....the securities were absolutely disgraceful...they were searching whether we are female or male ..they didn't have any kind of social skills...they were aggressive and fascists!!!macho men ...where were all the female securities by the way?? later they wouldnt allow water inside by telling  us that we have to pay for water in their bar and the reaction to my question why ???was completely excessive ...the securities said to me not to ask questions ..."there is no why" they said.  I ended up with two huge guys standing over me with their legs spread wide and their arms folded like they would hit me and i was a threat to them...completely fascists....i had to drink all my water before i entered...  we had tickets for the 5 days and we didn't want to go to the last 2 days...we will never go there again and we will not recommend it....and i had to click one star to rate but i wouldnt give any...

I was there yesterday and it was unbelievable bad! The staff is incompetent and the whole event was organised really bad.
We waited 35minutes to order a drink at the bar, this is not a joke! And then we found out there was no more wine left! It was only 1:00..
Stayed a while, but the dj was not very good, crowd was not really the best and besides that the place was cold! I have never felt cold inside a club.
When I wanted to collect my coat at the coatcheck with my ticket they LOST my coat there! Luckily I found it after a while but this should not happen at all in a PAID coatcheck, that is just ridiculous.
