BEWARE.... Do not order from this store. Most doors arrived damaged. Emerald doors refused to take back or refund, even though damage was reported immediately. Customer service very bad: very dismissive, rude, poor english, ignored follow up email. We had to issue a county court claim in order to get a response from them!! And still they refused to issue refund or pay for door collection!

Beware of the "quality" of the LaPorte door sets! We bought a set of these pre-finished doors and as soon as they were removed from the packaging, we could see that the finish was not high quality. Moreover, the doors are described as "fully finished" but our joiner had to do a lot of chisel work before the locking mechanisms could be fitted. Moreover, the wood is so soft, that it is extremely easy to "turn out" the screw threads when fitting the drip-guards at the bottom of the door, even if only minimal rotational force is used. The Stormguard threshold is not really fit for purpose. Even if large quanities of silicone sealer is used underneath, we found water still managed to leak under the threshold. Plus the rubber/brush skirting on the bottom of the door did not provide an airtight seal leading to significant draughts. The main door frame was slightly twisted so our joiner had to screw it in the bets he could. However, this meant that the doors didnt meet properly in the middle and against the draught seals which again meant lots of draughts. However, most shocking of all was that after only a week of having been fitted, the laminate started to come away from the rest of the door and "sections" started to move apart. We immediately photographed and complained to Emerald Doors. To be fair, Emerald Doors arranged for an XL Joinery (who actually manufacture this product) inspector to come to view the faults within a couple of weeks but his recommendation was going to be to replace the doors. However, in our opinion, the doors are not fit for purpose and therefore asked for a full refund. Emerald Doors only agreed to make a token contribution to re-fitting costs which meant we effectively had to pay for two sets of installation charges within less than 1 month of each other. I would STRONGLY recommend against going for "engineered hardwood" construction and instead pay more for solid hardwood. The extra cost is more than worth it!

I called in at their showroom a couple of weeks ago. I liked what I saw so I ordered 5 new doors. They arrived this week and WOW what a difference they have made to the look of the house. Excellent service and amazing looking doors.

I only wish that more were more like Emerald Doors, I cannot express enough my satisfaction working with there friendly knowledgeable sales team who are not there just to take an order but actively work towards finding you the door style to meet your needs,The help received tracking down the designs which meet my client’s requirements in both quality and with regards to the regulations are second to none for each and every order I have placed,
be it one door to 28 doors the standards are consistently met by the team at Emerald.
Emerald are one of the only suppliers I can trust to send my clients direct, safe in knowledge that my clients will receive an outstanding service!
I look forward to speaking to the trusted staff once more very soon.

bootaddict, 4 July 2012:Wish I had read this before! Everything seems to be fine so long as there are no hiccups with the door – but problem resolution doesn’t seem to be their strong point! Now in a situation where I have 4 doors fitted, the final one – which I’ve waited 6 weeks for – has arrived damaged but they’re telling me it’ll be 2/3 months until they’ve got a replacement to offer me!! They are however still offering the door on their website at a ‘special offer’ price despite not having stock! Shame, because the doors which weren’t damaged in transit (because they were properly packaged – this one wasn’t) are really nice, had this latest incident not happened, I’d have a completely different view of them …. guess it’s true what they say, you can only judge how good a company is when something goes wrong – and so far I’m not impressed with this aspect.
