Two Wheels Good

Stunningly bad service. Treated me like something the dog had left on the pavement when I tried to buy a bike for my daughter there (ended up travelling 10 mins on the bus to another shop where they treated her like royalty) and then tried to charge my brother £350 for a job that took me 2 hours and cost £60 in parts.  £145 an hour for labour...? I'd like to work there!
As a 4 bike family, I'd estimate they may well have lost about £600 worth of business from us, but hey, if you can charge nearly £150 an hour for repairs, I guess that's not much of a problem.

Bought an inner tube from the Stoke Newington branch. Noticed while fitting it that it had a split in it. Returned it to the Crouch End Branch, as this was nearer home. They swapped it but treated me like I a liar and made it clear they didn’t want my business again.

Yeah, came in here to buy a tire. The staff were extremely helpful and when the inner tube they provided sprung a leak they put a new one in at no extra cost. The shop is also nicely laid out with split-level worshop space and corrugated iron wall covering. Cool.

I remember reading the reviews a year or two ago and they almost put me off visiting. I'm glad they didn't. The guys in the store seemed genuinely keen about cycling, unlike Evans Cycles. The parts aren't the cheapest (they're still competitive for London) and they don't do repairs for free (it's a business after all) but I'd trust them to fix any serious bike problems i had.

If you're a super keen cyclist and can fix almost anything yourself, you probably need somewhere like Condor Cycles in Bloomsbury but for anyone else it's worth a visit.

I knew I was looking at bad service the minute the guy just stood inside and I tried to get my bike into the shop through the spring loaded doors. I would have at least helped keep the door open. Anyways I had asked them on prior day to fix my gears and was told ok to leave the bike Fri and pick Mon. The guy looked at it and said it required a "major service" and promptly said that I could not leave the bike and next date I could book was a week away. Had pushed it about 2 miles and changed my wok schedule. Needless to say - wont be stepping in again.

This is just the sort of local bike shop that you are looking for - guys that really know and love bikes, and help you get what you need. I’ve no longer got any worthwhile bike shops over my side of town, so I rode quite a distance here (and called in on the Stoke Newington branch on the way) and was glad I did.

Not all bike shops are the same, this is one of the very best.

Really cool bike shop off Crouch End Broadway. It has two sections, bike-repair and accessories, sells bikes, lights, etc, and has friendly staff willing to help out with advice. It has been there for yonks and has a good reputation.

Generally good and knowledgeable . Not the cheapest option but certainly convenient if you live locally. They are really small though so are better for repairs and services rather than purchases…
