I used to bring my children here, or Punchinellos when it was around!, when we had saved up to have a meal in town as a special treat! At that time you had to go downstairs which they both loved!
I recently went for an eveing meal with two friends who had never been. We had lovely food - truly French, seasonal and Bistrot, not pretentious or Anglicised. The wine was lovely though we didn't drink a lot! And the service was excellent with a nice balance of attention and without over intrusion. the best bit was the look on my friends faces when they saw the bill!!! Very funny!
xx

Very nice ambience. Waiters very friendly. Starter was Sheep’s sweet meats and was delicious. As you can tell the menu is very French orientated. Had beef cheek in a crock and was delicious. The house wine us very palatable being a member of the wine society.
As we are here for fortieth birthday the service has been impeccable considering there is 21 of us.
Desert was stunning. Everyone said that there pudding was gorgeous l. I had chillied pineapple. Sounded odd so I went for it. Well what can I say. Lush.

All in all this restaurant is worth every penny.

Enjoy.

Really authentic French restaurant. Have now been here for lunch and dinner, and loved both visits. Lunch is definitely far better value, as the evening meal can quickly add up, especially from the a la carte menu, but all the food has been really tasty and great quality. I'll be back, but probably for lunch.

My first and last visit to the restaurant. It came highly recommended but I left very underwhelmed. I ordered the set menu for lunch and whilst the fish was fine the salad was on the turn, it was served with rice and three objects that I think were potatoes? Dessert was sickly sweet and the wine was some of the worst I have had. Not really what you think you would get from a French restaurant.

Are you sure you went to French Living? Either you are mistaking the restaurant, or your palate needs therapy! try Pizza Hut for that very special gastronomic experience. French Living is probably the only restaurant in the UK where you are transported to France, with real brasserie food at exceptional value

An excellent French restaurant. Great, authentic French food and wine at a very reasonable price. I have no hesitation in recommending it. Definitely the best French restaurant in Nottingham in my view.

I’ve never actually eaten here (but it’s definitely on my places to go list) - but wanted to review the shop, which I think is fantastic! Lovely to browse all the quirky French produce - and they have a good selection of cheeses etc.

The best French food in Nottingham.

Perfect place when you travelling between two major shopping centres during lunch. The baguette & coffee give you the taste of France, there’s a little food shop as well in case you want to take some home for dinner.

Pre-theatre menu is awesome, lots of food to choose from at great price.

My favourite place to lunch in Nottingham. Unlike all the other delicatessens which tend to be clustered toward the Hockley end of town, French Living is slap-bang central in King Street, just up from the Market Square and incredibly handy for shopping spree breaks. I’m addicted to the pate forestiere baguette, the coffee is excellent and the apple and cherry tarts are unsurpassed in Nottingham. Baguettes, salads and snacks are served upstairs in a gorgeous and rustic French setting (you forget you’re in Nottingham) with main meals served downstairs in the restaurant proper. It would be geat to have a couple more places of this standard in the centre of Nottingham, more like this please!

In my opinion this is the best restaurant in Nottingham. The food is amazing and quite reasonably priced for such high quality. It’s quite small downstairs so you have to book ahead, but it’s cosy and intimate and has a lovely atmosphere. A good selection of wine and a seasonal food menu, well worth a visit.
