This review refers specifically to the Giraffe at the Oracle Shopping Centre:
I went to this Giraffe with my girlfriend for a bit of lunch one afternoon. It was at a mid level of busy-ness and we chose a table at the far end for our seating.
When we arrived at our table, it was still dirty with bits of food on the table despite having been cleared of plates and prepared for new customers. Normally when a restaurant isnt ready for you to sit at a table they clean it for you before seating you there, but not here. We asked for the table to be cleaned for us so we could at least eat at a clean table, and when the girl arrived with the dirty rag she’d used all day without cleaning (no joke!), she splashed my girlfriend in the eye with the dirty water whilst cleaning.
My girlfriend flinched when it landed in her eye, but the waitress, and by now her colleague who was also loitering at the table waiting to take our order made no sign of an apology or even acknowledging that they had just splashed a customer with dirty water… in the eye.
I think the approach to customer service is incredibly rude, but wait – it doesnt stop there. Following the splashgate incident, the staff convened to the side by the till and started joking with each other quite loudly and VERY visibly to us about what just happened. It was shocking. First they make you feel discomfort then they make jokes about it in front of you.
At the end of it, the food arrived, was tasteless and bland. Never going back – there’s plenty of other places to eat where I dont have to put up with this nonsense – staff who dont care enough to even apologise.

The Oracle is great, a place for everyone really. OAPS, young children, busy mums and even miserable teenagers take delight in wandering around. Wide variety of shops, and plenty of cafes and restaurants. Tbh, it's pretty awesome. But because of this fact it does get rather busy, but if you don't spend the whole time complaining about the other people in YOUR shopping centre, you'll have a great time.

The oracle is a good shopping centre. It has both cheap and designer shops and plenty of places to eat.

The Oracle is all it was planning on being: a great venue for shopping, eating and night entertainment.
By day, you can buy high street desinger clothing from Morgan to Timberland and by night you can go drinking, dancing or to the ten screen cinema.
The only downside is there’s nowhere you can quickly grab a chocolate bar or packet of sweets to give you that sugar rush needed when shopping.

CathyJ, 16 January 2011:
A decent layout for a mall and a good selection of both independent and chain stores offering a diverse shopping experience.
The mall is easy to navigate and, even when busy, does not feel crowded. All the main names are here and the department stores such as Debenhams are vast and competitively priced.
Car parking is good and not too expensive.
The mall also offers a nice selection of food outlets.

The Oracle is my favourite 'local’ shopping mall. It not only offers a great range of high-street chains, it also offers some unique shops which can’t be found on just any high-street. The department stores are to-die-for – they’re so big!! A great selection of food outlets with other handy, nearby amenities such as cinema etc means the Oracle truly is a one-stop-shopping centre.
Absolutely worth a visit if you haven’t been before!!! I would say avoid at Christmas time as parking is a nightmare and the mall (and highstreet outside) gets extremely busy! The Oracle carpark is quite expensive to park in as well
Absolutely worth a visit if you haven’t been before!!!

Yea The Oracle is cool, I live in Reading so might just be a little immune to it now, it has loads of restaurants and heaps of shops but both are all the high street names, nothing independent, still it’s a nice place to go, all the shops you could want, a really good choice of restaurants, a cinema (part of the Vue chain - of course!) and the River Kennett runs right through the middle.

The oracle is a indoor shopping mall, with lots of main high street names being located there, such as HMV and Debenhams. it also has a wide variety of food from old orleans to the slug and lettuce.

I think the Oracle is brilliant for shopping, it has eveything you need under one roof. All the normal high street stores plus lots of places to eat and meet for a coffee. Also has stores like french connection etc that you dont get everywhere.

The oracle in Reading is the most popular place to shop at,at the moment in Reading. It has brought Reading up to a very high level in shopping and leisure. It accomOdates for different needs in shopping and is very interesting to visit even if you are not usually into shopping. Its very accessible from the town centre and is very near to most bus route stops. Only negative point is its slightly difficult if you are travelling with a buggy or pram. Its a must if you are visiting Reading and probably a regular place to go if you live there. Not as big as some shopping centres, but big enough.

Being only a visitor to Reading, I found The Oracle shopping centre very easy to find as well as having all I needed.
The shops are nicely laid out with all the high street names inside, a great place to do all your shopping. I especially liked this as I only had one day to shop there.
The parking was easy to locate and also easy to get to the shops from there too. It was pricey but I am sure just as expensive as other shopping centre car parks in other cities.
Great place to meet friends too, you wont get lost!

You can get most things you need from the Oracle, as most of the high street shops can be found in there.
The best bit is that you get to do your shopping all in one place, and its also warm in there, rather than having to walk frfom shop to shop in the cold (or in the rain!). Also, shops in the Oracle are open until much later (until 8pm) than on the high street (6pm).
However, parking can be quite costly in the Oracle and finding a spot during the weekend can be quite difficult. If you enter the parking after 6pm, then it is cheaper.

If you want an expensive night out, the Oracle is the place to head with many bars and restaurants willingly willing to take your cash.
The shops themselves are mainly large chain stores with very few independent shops as they simply can not afford the rent.
If you are looking for a place to go and you know what you need the Oracle is the ideal place to visit

The Oracle is a complex consisting of restaurants, shops and a few bars. Shops include most major high street electrical and clothes retailers. Restaurants are also chains. In therms of bars, the Ivory lounge is OK, there is also a HAHA, but most bars are in different parts of town so it is slightly out of the way.

The Oracle shopping centre is a multi-story complex that has a wide variety of clothes and entertainment shops. There are also several restaurants in and around the centre, which cater for all tastes.
Although the centre is often very busy, the complex is large, light and spacious so it does not get too crowded most of the time.
There are maps and signposts around so you can find your way if you get lost looking for a particular store.

The Oracle shopping centre is a fairly recent centre which is designed nicely and gives you a feel that you are shopping at a classy shopping mall. It is well maintained and clean. Parking is sometimes a problem due to the sheer volume of customers but you normally find space if you are prepared to keep going up a few levels rather than parking on the ground floor. The 'Lush’ shop which sells handmade cosmetics and skin products is quite well placed by the entrance giving a great sweet smell upon entering showing to you that you are in for a treat and a pleasant shopping experience. There are plenty of top end high street shops aswell as a few designer shops like monserrat in the mall.
