I can’t say I love shopping, but this shop is definitely one of the best if not the BEST!It is amazing and I absolutely enjoy going there
The best shop in town. Okay, maybe not the best but the coolest shop in London I've ever seen.
U don't need to know the exact place of this shop. U'll smell it. It's in the air all around the building an on the street. Unbelievable. The music inside is very loud, but who cares. This store is an experience u wont 4get. It's not a mainstream shop like all the others. It is special! Okay the shop assistants look one like the other. Guess they are cloned or something. But nevertheless I love Abercrombie & Fitch and I love that store.
I absolutely love shopping but this store put me off! I recently stumbled across the Abercrombie & Finch website and saw a few things that I liked, but was shocked at the £20 shipping cost (which includes customs & duties tax). I noticed that they had a store in London, located just off the prestigious Saville Row.
A friend pre-warned me that I may have to queue outside as the store is very popular, but luckily I was able to walk-in where there were two security guards at the entrance. On entry it felt like a nightclub, dark and very crowded, I really didn't know where I was going. Navigating around with people constantly bumping into me was irritating, and yes, the women assistants looked young and wore lots of makeup and short skirts, and one male assistant definitely looked like a typical model - but all seemed rather vacant and unhelpful.
Music blasting, dark lighting (how am I supposed to see the clothes properly!), and worst of all, the awful strong perfume which I found not only overwhelming but my hair smelled of it afterwards.
As you may have noticed I don't rate the store, but I ended up leaving and ordered off their website. The shirts and knitwear are of good quality, but I don't really like the majority of their clothes which are overly branded.
Conversely, I pay a lot for my J Brand jeans, which are precisely the opposite to Abercrombie; no-one would have a clue what brand the jeans are because there's no visible label or wording.
Personally, I'd rather spend the £20 delivery charge for ordering online than have to step into that store again!
A shop that is too dark, smells too much of perfume and too loud music. I just felt coming to a nightclub. The products is overpriced and I can find similar products somewhere else to much cheaper price. I think the whole concept is rubbish with staff that looks like models. It's a shame they are in such a nice building. That building deserves a much better shop than Abercrombie and Fitch.
I went to the Abercrombie and Fitch in London when I went to London for a school trip. I thought the shop itself was absolutely amazing. The layout was great and it was easy to find what you were looking for. If it was you'r first time in this one, like me, you would want to take you'r time looking around. But if you have a lot of money with you, you would have none coming out. I think the clothes are slightly over-priced. The staff are very friendly and always willing to help.
Dark, loud, brash, smelly/fragrant, huge, sensuous, love it or hate it, an amazing place and definitely worth popping into at the very least.
Be brave, dare your Gran to pose with the Chippendale at the front door, dare you to engage in a meaningful shopping dialogue with one of the demi-god assistants, double dare you to get your credit card out!
Great place - decadent madness for ordinary folk.
expensive but truly fantastic it has a wide variety of special clothing and is popular around the world. wearing clothes with this logo not only does it feel comfortable but it makes people around u think wow that guy must be so trendy to hav abercrombie. the downs is that it is expensive. buying these clothing will up your rep on the streets!! :)
I’m never too sure what to make of Abercrombie & Fitch. I’m particularly fond of their shirts and jumpers, but i find everything else a bit too “preppy” as my brother says. Similarly to Gap, i always walk into Abercrombie and end up only really liking one or 2 things and hating everything.
Oh well, i think they definitely make up for this with the scantily clad models who are particularly special in the Mayfair branch :)
Word of advice - Abercrombie & Fitch is a good 30% cheaper in the US. You might want to wait for a trip to NYC if you have one planned before you go nuts buying clothes in London!
The clothes are really nice, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not at all affordable and it’s definitely not perfect!
a) It’s wayyyyyy too dark (to the extent it’s just annoying.) It makes you wonder why they keep it dark, is it to hide the fact the clothes and shop assistants aren’t quite as 'beautiful’ as they seem?
b) It’s wayyyyy too smelly (they spray it with their fragrances and they smell nice…but there’s just SO much, it’s actually ridiculous and gave me a headache!)
c) I just find the whole thing quite fake and irritating. They seem to have really narrow-minded opinions of beauty. Judging by the people who work there, in my opinion, they seem to be trying to say anyone who doesn’t have blonde hair and blue eyes isn’t beautiful. I’d like to see more ethnic minorities working in there.
Well, that’s my stab at the shop - and mainly because the other reviews are so positive, I just wanted to shed a bit of light on perhaps the problems with such a great store!
stuff in abercrombie is nice but riduculously overpriced. the shop is always very crowded with huge queues for changing rooms and to pay. the music blairs out too loud and it is dark and stuffy. I would recommend avoiding the shop and buying online if you can or going to abercrombies sister company hollister, there is one in westfield.
I went to Abercrombie and Fitch yesterday with my friends and it was AWESOME! As you walk in these well fit guys say hi and show you in. And you can have your ture taken with a topless one. Then you start sniffing clothes. I tell you the smell of them is incredible and more addictive than glue, not that I’d know… I wish that I could have everything there and it is so cool. I tell you though the one we thought was weird was on the balcony bit there were a male and fee staff member there dancing and they brought down the tone of the shop. I must say if you don’t have that much money not the place to go as I bought one tee and spent £35 on it and that was in the Sale and CHEAP!!!!! I still love it! So whilst in London or America it is a place you have to go and if you want a cheaper version then go to Hollisters!
I was and still am a fan of abercrombie, but this shop in london has really put me off due to the overly loud music, annoying workers who know nothing about the clothes and where they are and just stand there palying with their hair as every one knows they are models, and also it is soooo dark in their yu can hardly see the product let alone the pirce - which you probably don’t want to see as it is soo overpriced in there, i would rather buy a ticket to america and get clothes there than buy from that certain shop.
I love Abercrombie but found the place very dissapointing. The staff are quite rude and judge you by what you are wearing and not the money you could be spending. It is dark and very noisy and the prices are very high when you think of the dollar/pound exchange. I will buy them on the net instead of going their.
On entering this store besides being greeted by male & female models the first thing you’ll notice is the loud music. The shop is quite dark as well so it’s more like a club than a shop. The shop itself is huge, spanning over 2 levels and because of the low light level it can feel a bit like a maze at times. But if you do get lost, the models/shop assistants are always there to help.
This is pretty much my idea of shopping hell. First thing you are greeted by unecessarily half naked people (in November…Why??) then you step into almost complete darkness and your ears are pounded by really lound terrible dance music. THEN you are choked on the signature Abercrombie perfume which is sprayed on everything including unwilling customers. The whole experience is an over-the-top assault on the senses. I didn’t even make it far enough to look at the clothes but I am pretty sure they are boring and overpriced. Dont bother going…Unless you fancy a bit of a laugh at the cloned staff.
Jotc I was going to write a review but you have said it all here so saved me the time and trouble. However feel I must add that I am not a shrinking violet but I didn’t have the courage to go in on my own because it looked liked an exclusive club for the young and gorgeous, so waited till my daughter was with me and even she hated the atmosphere. We left within a few minutes of arriving and won’t bother going back. I hate all that preppy stuff anyway …. only middle aged men who play golf should wear polo shirts!

Humm mixed feeling about this place. At first i was delighted abercrombie was coming to the uk but balked at the prices they were charging, exactly what you pay in dollars you pay in pounds! Being used to getting the clothes cheaper by either buying on the us website (since about 2000) or over in the states, i wasnt happy about paying more for something that quality wise, isnt prada. But i have brought a t shirt here (and they gave me the biggest bag for it - very ethical!) and wondered around thinking, humm, not too keen on it being here now! I much prefer buying abercrombie in america, and until there are sales on in the uk shop (like the american shops and website) i wont be buying anything in here.
The first UK shop. I love Avercrombie. It’s an american clothing shop and is’ fashinable. its expensive but it’s fun and casual. I haven’t bought anything from here as I didn’t have much money at the time but i will next time.
Not really a shop….more of a club….but is worth a visit just for the experience!
There are topless male models in the entrance, which is a bit strange, and I hated how unbeliveably snooty the model/sales reps were. I was dressed a bit scruffily, and I felt like I shouldn’t be there! but that said, what they have done with the building is awesome, and it is certainly a unique shopping experience!
If you like A&F clothes, you will love this shop. The downstairs has the mens clothing, and the upstairs is for the womens clothes. The clothes are quite expensive for what they are, however you will save a lot of money from buying from their website, as the delivery starts from £20, which seems to be very expensive.
