Gaudi aside, Barcelona has many architects working on it’s vast array of buildings.
I must say though that this is one of my personal favourites. It’s as modern looking now as perhaps it ever was. I couldn’t even begin to describe in architectural terms why I think this building works or why I like so much. I do know it looks superb, fresh and sleek and beautiful in it’s simple elegant form. We visited the area via the tour bus, although I’m sure there are other ways of reaching the area the building is situated in.
Built for the purpose of a German pavilion in the 1929 expo, this today could be the swanky pad of those with the money in whichever part of the world: LA to Hale.
Worth taking a slight diversion out of your itinerary to go see this masterpiece.

This reconstruction of the original Mies van der Rohe Buildung for the world exposition 1930 is absolutely amazing.

For the time, when most architects still could not decide to leave art nouveau behind, it was more than revolutionary.

Many details are still state of the art today. Just look at the back lit full frame glass windows inside.

The reconstruction itself is fantastic, as the foundation did go to extremes to find for example the similar marble around the world.

This building is literally the home of the famous Barcelona Chair.
