Staff were amazing with my son and diagnosed and operated within a day!! he was home 3 days later a new baby, fantastic place.
Been there a few times before before the new improved 'super’ hospital and it was always pretty good and quick. Took my little girl to the new one yesterday, and altho quite nice still i feel its lost abot of the kiddyness about it, and the wait seems to of got abit longer. overall its ok tho. Even if parking is a pain!!

derbyshire childrens hospital is a disgrace.i have just spent the last 3 days trying to obtain treatment for my daughter who is suffering from pylonenephritis(a nasty kidney infection) her temperature has been 39.5c for the last 4 days, and her pain is way above the threshold she can tolerate.they have dispensed the normal antibiotics which were supposed to work after 48 hours. they havent.yesterday a doctor on the childrens emergency dept actually told me that they did not know if they were treating the infection with the correct antibiotics as the culture samples has not been screened.i rang them back today and was told by a nurse to not bring her back in and just to carry on giving her ibuprofen and paracetamol for her fever.she was not even concerned that my daughter has not eaten for 4 days and can only manage small amounts of fluid.we as a family are disgusted by their lack of understanding and failure to address our concerns. no one likes to see their child suffer so long in this manner.
NB:WE HAVE GIVEN ONE STAR BECAUSE WE HAD TOO,THIS IS NOT A TRUE REFLECTION OF OUR RATING.

Derbyshire Children’s Hospital is a remarkable place to take a child who is ill or requires an operation. In outpatients it feels more like an Aladdin’s cave than a medical place, with the vastest selection of toys and interactive games that you can imagine. It is difficult for a child to realise they are in anywhere other than a toy shop and distracts them totally from the impending check up, inspection or blood test. On the wards the layout is thoughtfully to mix a central play and socialising area with quieter areas for rest and recuperation. It left my child with a love of hospitals !

Very friendly staff, nice waiting area plenty of toys for all age groups, never waited longer than an hour to be seen in the emergency department, and doesn’t feel stuffy like a normal hospital.

Very friendly staff, lovely well thought out hospital. Lots of toys in the waiting areas to keep little ones amused.
Clean and good facilities like toilets and cafe’s etc.

derbyshire childrens hospital is really good because when i was younger i had a operation and they were so kind they put me to sleep then when i woke up they asked if i wanted anything so if your child is ill this is the best place to go as they have lots of staff and are on time they have only the most high quality doctors and nurses and will ask you if it is ok to do something
