Larchdown Farm

Gorgeous place. Hosts David and Cally Horton have created a beautiful place here. An old house has a large extension with a great hall and a massive kitchen. There's a pool, and extensive and elaborate gardens. Maybe you'll be greeted with a glass of wine, as we were.

The rooms in the old part of the house are wonderful: huge, soft king-size beds, and bathrooms big enough to be another bedroom on their own.

Breakfast gets served at a table looking out over the pool and gardens. Expect a big pile of sausage, bacon, tomato, and eggs from their own chickens.

Best of all, David and Cally seem wonderful people. We were only staying one night but they were very accomodating, giving us a superb dinner recommendation and making a booking. They also suggested a walk for us to do the next day and photocopied the relevant bit from their OS map for us. They're not afraid of a laugh or two, either!

It's a great place in a wonderful area (the southern end of the Chilterns), and not at all far from London.
