I have to say I always thought the London Eye was a waste of money and a bit of an eye sore and said I never wanted to go on it. However on a works do I went there and I must say it was lovely. It goes slow enough so that you can see all the way round London on your way up and down, and capture some breath taking pictures in the process.

I went on the flight at around 10 am and would advise anyone to go on early because I did not have to queue but after being on the flight for half hour the queue must have been over and hour long. I pre booked a day out with them for £37.50 each and that was for London Eye Flight, the a meal in Covent Garden at the Porters Bar and then on the River Cruise. This is a great money saver and well worth doing

Also I have been told you can get married on this and they time it just right so that you say your 'i do’s ’ when you reach the top. ahhhhh that’s lovely

London Eye was Amazing, i knew alot of tourists, journalists and visitors had all said it was one of the best attractions in England but i didnt think it would of been as amazing as it was! i know the Eye is to show you all places and good developments in England, but it did gow rather slow, which kills the thrill of going high up in the air. But putting that one tiny thing i didnt like the place is an amazing outting for a Family Day Out, and will definitely not disspaoint you and I would definitely advise for you to go there, it probarly wouldnt even be boring if you would go there for the 2nd time or so on.

I have to confess to thinking this was going to be a waste of money when it was being erected, but I was wrong. I took a group of 23 people along as part of a day out to this. I had purchased the tickets and time slot in advance, so we literally turned up, got on and enjoyed the ride.

Unfortunately the weather wasn’t brilliant on the day we went, a bit overcast and drizzly, but the scenery was still fantastic. What was also good too was that most people were like me, they just stood and looked without really saying much and it was so peaceful.

Don’t waste your time sitting down when you board the “pods”, grab yourself a spot by the window and you won’t be disappointed.

Just in case you wondered, the “eye” doesn’t stop for you to board - it just moves really slowly all the time.

Its a fantastic experience great views and great for tourists but…. The price is just insane and dont even get me started about the queus if your lucky enough you will only be standing in the FREEZING cold for 30 minutes myself on the other hand found my self waiting for over a HOUR. If i didint have my family with me i would have just left the queu and went to the nearest pub.

There was no queue i must say and we got a capsule nearly just to ourselves. Although the weather was not fantastic….we got up there and we could see everything and everything was very clear! couldn’t believe my luck. left me extremely happy and i was ready to continue walking central london after feeling that i wanted to go home! happy days!

We booked in advance so went to the ‘fast-track’ booth to get our tickets. You still have to queue to get on the thing, but not to buy tickets which is a plus!

The views are amazing - it was a bit overcast when I went on so we couldn’t see as far as on a brighter day but it had a very strange, almost historical feel - it was as if we were viewing Victorian London or something, it was pretty cool!

The only slight drawback we found was that we had to share a pod with an annoying bloke who insisted on loudly pointing out EVERYTHING to his wife, as if she had no eyes (I did check that she wasn’t blind or something before I stored the rant in my brain!). That said, after a while you tend to get ‘in the zone’ and can block out a lot of stuff. Maybe that’s the vertigo!

Seriously, an excellent attraction to visit while you’re ‘in town’.

It took me ages to get around to having a go on the London Eye, so took the opportunity when my brother and his family visited a while back.

The major downside - as others have said - is the queues in summer. And that’s if you have pre-booked. If you do nothing else, remember these words: pre-book online. (Unless, that is, you have a fetish for queuing). If you can go on a fine winter’s day, that’s probably perfect.

We waited about an hour to get on, on a very hot day, although fortunately we had all brought lots of water to drink. There’s nowhere really to sit while queuing, and the queue is a bit haphazard and ill-organised, but you do eventually get there. (NB Make sure you use the loo if you need to beforehand too - the capsules themselves don’t have any, and those 30 minutes can seem a very long time…).

Needless to say, our capsule was pretty crowded, but they do limit numbers so you still have plenty of space to wander around and look in different directions. And once there, there is no doubt that the views are stupendous, especially over the Houses of Parliament and towards Trafalgar Square. I’m still using the photographs I took on my trip!

I have to say that for me, it’s one of those things I’ll probably only do once, but I’m glad that I did it.

Warning: a few friends of mine and one family member have suffered really badly from vertigo on the Eye, as the structure tends to emphasise its height. The 30 minutes really was torture for them. So, if you are not good with heights, think very carefully before going on.

It is one big wheel you won’t miss if you are in London. It’s hard to believe that it was only meant to turn beside the Thames for only 5 years. Due to its popularity, it kept turning for another 20 years. Well, there will be long queues to get a ride but it’s worth it as you get a superb view over the heart of London!

Eye. Though over the years i have come to see it as a part of London. I also have to admit that
in the evening while walking over the bridge it is a lovely sight. The lights on the river are
a amazing sight. I havent been on the eye itself but i know many a person that have and i
know they really enjoyed it. They loved the view and have even been on it more then once,
which is always a good sign.

When I got on the eye I thought it was so tedious I was going to pull all my eye-lashes out by the time it ‘landed’ again (cheesy reference to the ‘Enjoy your flight’ message courtesy of BA). But once you’ve paid a pretty high price and climbed into your coccoon, you’re transported high over London and for once the weave of underground tunnels and landmarks come together and you can appreciate it as a whole. And you actually get to the end a lot quicker than you’d think.

Pick a clear day and expect long queues. Great to take visitors up to ‘take in’ London - and of course get a fairly good photo.

Is the London Eye touristy? You betcha. It’s also the best way to see all of London at once. On a clear day, you really can see forever and then some. I felt like a little kid Oohing and Aahing over the sights and I would definitely return and do it all over again. Also, if you happen to be in London over the Christmas holidays, try to get out to see the New Year’s eve fireworks display. We stood on one of the bridges and watched fireworks exploding over Big Ben and the London Eye. It was simply spectacular.

Here’s my tip: if at all possible, plan in advance and buy your tickets before you get there. They will be for a specific time period and it will significantly reduce your wait time. Just go pick up your tickets at the will call box office and go get in line for the ride. Once you see how massive the line is for purchasing tickets, you will be very glad you planned in advance.

What can I say…........it is a one of a kind experience and the views are spectacular. The cost, not unlike everything in London, is very expensive, so get used to it quickly or it may ruin your holiday. We saved a little by booking on-line which also saves you a ton of time picking up your tickets at the kiosk, just put in your card you paid for the tickets with and out they come. The line-ups look enormous but at 30 people per car they move along very quickly. Worth the money just in picture value alone…......bring a zoom lense.

Ok, so you do have to queue once to buy your tickets and then again to actually “board” the eye, so I reckon they could work on a better system where that’s concerned but hey, the fact that there are long queues just reflects the fact that it is a truly magical experience. It moves so slowly, it hardly feels like you’re moving at all, so plenty of time to take in panaromic views of London and right over the River Thames too, a bonus. I have been twice in different weather and I would say, don’t go when it’s really sunny as the haze compromises the views. A slightly overcast day is much better.

A once in a lifetime experience, and so it should be, with the silly long queues - a separate queue for the tickets and for boarding, no less, smelly staff and too many people in each bubble.

The ‘flight’ itself - wonderful, spectacular.

Organized in a truly British way.

I saw the eye and thought.. hmm.. just another expensive attraction to waste money on. We had a friend come to London for a visit and she really wanted to go so we booked tickets online (very easy and you avoid at least one queue.) It was about 15 pounds for a ticket.

Your online ticket gets you a time slot in line and I think the time slots are allocated every half an hour.. so you still wait in an unavoidable line with the other couple hundred people in your time slot. I will say the line moves fast and I think we were only in it for about 20 minutes during Easter weekend.

I thought I would be bored and that the ride would feel like hours but really I thought it went too fast! The views are stunning and even in bad weather you can see a lot. We got half way up to the peak and someone in our capsule thought we were at the top which gives you an idea of how high you feel.

The engineering of the structure was fantastic and I took as many pictures of that as I did of the views. It was a ‘blow your umbrella inside out’, ‘can’t hear people next to you talking cause of the wind’ day, yet I felt incredibly safe and the structure never felt as though it was being affected.

I will definately be back with more guests or maybe even for fun on an evening flight!

One note: Take pictures of YOURSELF and the view up there and don’t be afraid to ask others to take your photo. Your friends want to see photos of you, not 80 crappy snaps of London that anyone could’ve taken.

A must for any tourist this is one of those places that as a lifelong Londoner it took me a heck of a long time to get round to visiting!

It was well worth it though; the tickets though a little on the pricey side offer an absolutely unparalleled view of London. This is no five minute ferris wheel, the flight as they call it lasts a good half hour.

The london eye - although i agree with the post which says THIS IS NOT A FLIGHT! - is a rather brilliant attraction. Okay so on a cloudy, rainy day your sight seeing is limited - in which case i suggest you come bk when its sunny or take it for what it is. On a clear day you can see all over london with a great view over Westminster and a far off view of Canary Wharf. The great thing about these pods is that they are all glass. Meaning you can move about and look in all directions, quite different from the view you get from a business tower window!!
In the summer there is bound to be a que so i suggest you pre book your tickets online. This will also save you money.
Unless you have many pennies to spare and have booked a whole pod for a special event then you will be shearing the pod with others. They do not over crowd them though so you will be able to move around freely. There are also seats in the middle if you tire of standing.
The eye is located close to the aquarium so is in a good tourist location.

The brilliant invention by British Airways that was initially going to be a feature of the London skyline for a limited period of time but it has been so popular that 10 years later it has become part of the London tourist ‘must-see’ itineraries.

Sadly, before getting into a capsule for your very s-l-o-w spin on the wheel, the surrounding areas are very scruffy with foul smelling hamburger-and-onions stalls and others selling a lot of tourist tat. Why the Tourist Board dont get these traders to smarten up, offer a friendly service and stop ripping off the tourists is beyond me.

However, once in the capsule, the memories of being ripped off are replaced by the breathtaking views for miles across the city are jaw droppingly beautiful and worth every penny of the ticket price.

I would like to buy a capsule that I could use at my convenience, and I could sit in there with a fridge and a laptop and I could write all my stuff and pick out places I want to visit and think about how much I dig London.

It's pretty cool. We went on the Red Rose Flight which included a rose and a chocolate per couple.

Apparently the London Eye is the 2nd most popular place in the world for proposing - no one got on their knees in our capsule, but we did have the rather hilarious soundtrack of couples smooching.

The london eye is a great addition to a day out in London. The ride is 30 mins long and costs around £12. From the high position the wheel is able to take you, you get to see many of the famous buildings and sights around London in a different way-as everything is smaller, and seen in a different direction. Its an experience everyone should try once. It can get a bit boring after 10 mins, but there's always something that catches your eye.

When I went, the que was not actually that bad, it was quite long but the wait was worth it.
It feels like something from the future as you step into the Pod, which are quite spacey inside with seats in the middle.
It takes a while to go round fully ( about an hour) and it doesn't seem like you are moving at all because itmoves so slowly.

But obviously the best thing is the view, at the top it is amazing and you can see in every direction as far as the eye can see. It really is an amazing view to see the whole of London from so high up.
Quite a good idea to build it and it attracts loads of tourists, so overall a must if you visit London.

Having enjoyed a satisfying lunch at one of the fish bars, my boyfriend and I bought tickets to go on the London eye and this was relatively easy as the queues were quite short on this day. I expect that for a weekend or holiday period, booking tickets in advance would be a better way to do things, but after only 20 minutes were on the wheel enjoying the ride.

The views were great but I think it is just the “doing it” part that is the most rewarding. Having completed our rotation we stepped off and started walking towards Westminster Bridge.

This is probably the only major tourist attraction added to London in this century. Well...I exaggerate slightly, but certainly it's the most memorable I-went-to London photograph that people take these days. Wehn my brother in law came to visit, I allowed myself to be talked into going on a ride on it (pretentiously called a flight since it's owned by British Airways, but I refuse to compare an oversized ferris wheel with an aircraft! :) ) The tickets were cheaper than I expected through lastminute.com but the lines are horrendous in the summer though I believe they are better in the winter. We finally boarded the capsule and I was surprised to see that it never actually stops - it just moves so slowly that people can get on without difficulty. The capsules are big enough for the number of people who go in there but if you're bored or don't fancy standing throughout the flight there are just a couple of benches to sit on and place on them is at a premium. The ride is ok and gives you some wonderful views over London but I'm a more information-oriented person rather than a visual one and I really missed having someone point out the different places and tell me what they are. With modern technology I'm sure they could have figured out a way to have a tailored guided tour piped to each capsule. Other reviewers have mentioned guides in the capsules but they must have forgotten to assign one to mine! As it is, unless you're the type of person who can ooh and aah at (admittedly fabulous) views for the entire trip, you are likely to get a bit bored.

On the other hand I think it's a fabulous addition to the London skyline and I love looking at it from the other side of the Thames.

I went on a hot summers day in the school holidays. This was probably because I was at school at the time. I can still remember the awesome views and feeling like I was sitting in a cloud. The down side to my visit was the fact that it was the school holidays and there was a family of about 7 and various other screaming kids in the same capsule. You can choose your friends but you can't choose who you're going to get trapped in a lift with. Likewise, you can't choose who you're going to get trapped in a capsule with. I did however, enjoy being high up there. Next time I'll remember to bring my i-pod. A must see for any tourist

It is expensize, but I keep on going back with different people and in different season and at different times of the day. London changes so quickly and so does the weather meaning two flights are never the same. Yes, sponsorship dictates that a trip on the Eye is called a 'flight' on the BA London Eye.

I dont like to queue so I book online in advance and you can do this even ont he same day meaning you can wait to see what the whether is like before going and then you choose a timeslot and turn up to pick up slightly discounted tickets. That is the best way.

Things not to do....get drunk as you will need to pee and there is no toilet in the capsule. Not use the bathroom when picking up your tickets (this was out of nessicity on one occason, but now I just LOVE the handdryers), forget your camera, go at a time when the sun is setting as this 30 minute period means you dont get to see London at real day time or night and the glare as the sun is behind the Houses of Parliament is really, really bad and hurts your eyes and makes pictures of Big Ben look dreadful I think.

fantastic view of all London has to offer and the guides are informative and there seems to be a bit of romance in the air as one guy proposed to his sweetheart in front of everyone in our capsule. apparently this is quite common-not original but common.

It can be a little boring after awhile if you do the trip on your own like I did, much more fun in a group of with a partner I reckon. and yes I definitely see the romantic potential especially if you luckily enough to rent out your own entire capsule with your sweetheart...heh
