I have been to La Tasca in Portsmouth several times and each time I have enjoyed it!
The tapas is perfect for sharing and there is always a wide variety to chose from. La Tasca is great for parties, celebrations or eating out in a large group!
The atmosphere is great in La Tasca and all the staff are very helpful! On hot days it is lovely to sit and watch the world go past whilst eating delicious food! The inside of La Tasca is very nice and very authentic-considering it is a big chain restaurant.
I would highly recommened La Tasca to anyone who would like to try something a bit different from McDonalds, Pizza Express etc.

I’ve always enjoyed La Tasca for the good food, friendly service and atmosphere.

I have been there many times either with family or my other half and i feel it’s perfect for both kind of meals as there is a wide variety to suit everyones taste and you can order just the right amount for you, my nan doesn’t eat that much and always feels guilty when we take her out and she only eats half her meal so this was just right for her.

Atmosphere was great, i’ve never been to spain but i would imagine they did a good job of trying to re-create the feel.

With regards to the service i agree they can sometimes take a while to bring the food out, but in my experience the waiters would be attentive by letting us know that the chef is busy etc and would offer more olive/bread/drinks.

La Tasca, fabulous place to eat. In my opinion La Tasca is enjoyed more if you go along with friends, the dishes are the perfect size for sharing!

This place is great if you are planning a birthday, the guys go all out to make you feel welcome! Balloons ahoy!

Make sure you phone in advance if you are planning to go with more than 4 people, they book up fast!

I was looking forward to going to La Tasca as I like tapas and the atmosphere it creates but my experience was dreadful. We were sat underneath the spiral stair case with people constantly barging past. I would have liked balsamic vinegar to dip my bread with rather than the awful sherry vinegar they had. When to food came after an unreasonably long wait half of it was barely lukewarm and the sautéed potato dish looked as though it was cooked 2 days ago then shoved in the microwave. When we complained the waitress just looked at us blankly then disappeared to find the manager who was the only good thing about the place.

I have been to several of these outlet’s all over the country and I find myself to be either very lucky or more able to allow short comings of this chain as I find the food, the place and the people to be friendly and welcoming and the food to always be good.

There are always bargains on their website to be had and their Salsa lesson nights are fun if you give it a go.

It’s as expensive as you make it, personally in other restaurants, a meal for two usually starts at £40 and this place is usually under that.

Thumbs up!

Went for xmas dinner so maybe not entirely representative but wasnt too impressed. Been once before to another La Tasca and liked it but nothing particularly stood out beyond the novelty; the xmas dinner was quite disappointing though.

Pretty pricey (especially for drinks!) and starter of 'olives and bread’ was disappointing - served vinegar instead of vinnegreat, not great for dipping! Lots of olives though. Still nothin on the main dishes was all that fancy, very average. Staff werent great either, didnt seem to be able to work out a good system of dealing with lots of plates (something you would think would be day to day in tapas?) and lots of people at table.

Basically a chain experience when it comes down to it! Their spanish angle doesnt really perform that well in comparison to other places in gunwharf.

We visited La Tasca in the summer during a shopping marathon at Gunwharf Quay. We had a short wait at the bar until we were seated upstairs. We ordered a garlic bread to start, numerous tapas dishes and a jug of water.
We waited nearly 45 minutes for our meals to be brought out and when they did the starter of garlic bread was served with the main tapas dishes. Our jug of water was eventually also brought to us. Service was very slap dash. The
waitress tried to serve us with a bottle of wine during our meal until we informed her that we hadn’t ordered one. The tapas however was lovely. We had about 8 different dishes between us which was enough as we were both stuffed afterwards! It is very easy to overorder at La Tasca as the amount of food per tapas is quite deceptive. We waited for ages after our meal to get the attention of the waitress to give us our bill which seems to be a common theme among the La Tasca’s I’ve visited. Upshot = Great food, rubbish service.

I really enjoy eating at La Tasca. It has a fun atmsophere and the decor makes you feel relaxed. You can choose from a really good range of tapas dishes from manchego cheese, salads, chicken croquettes to paella all a few pounds each. It makes a fun meal to share as you can order loads of dishes and each have a piece. I have always pleased pleased by the portions and the quality of the food. I do have Spanish friends who were less impressed but to me the food is fresh and delicious. I think it is reasonable value too. Enjoy the wine menu and sangria if you go for that!

This restaurant is situated in a very outstanding place. You can enjoy fantastic sights having your meal. More than that there are lots of shops there so you can have a perfect rest in “La Tasca” after doing your shopping.

This restaurant has got upstairs and downstairs seats. The design of the restaurant is very authentic so you can feel a breath of Spain.

The staff are very friendly and polite. They offer fairly good service. I have been there several times and every time I was absolutely satisfied by their service.

I really enjoyed their food. I liked tapas most of all. It’s a nice place to visit in a company of friends to share it.

My first meal of tapas at La Tasca was very enjoyable. Sadly my second meal of Paella was my last there.

It took a whole hour from arriving to being served our meal, and at no point did the waiter tell us we would have to wait this long.

When the paella arrived, it was absolutely ruined by the fact that it had not been stirred, and when you took a forkful you were assaulted by a mouthful of pure salt.

It was such a disappointment, as the paella smelled lovely, and is one of my favourite dishes.

We didn’t even receive an apology, so I won’t be returning in a hurry.
