LayBack Bar & Lounge, St. Georg, Hamburg

I really like coming here and I suggest it to others when they are asking about Cocktailbars in the area. The bartenders are very nice! Friendly in a way that makes my American soul feel at home. The interior is well designed and planned. The sleek feeling is still inviting. It's location on the Lange Reihe keeps it down to earth in an elite kinda way. ;) I like the dark colors and in the Summer it is fun to sit out front. What I didn't like so much this time was sitting in the back non-smoking area. I'm not going to take a star off for this, because I really feel like this is the kind of thing that if it bothers you enough...go somewhere else. Still yet, it would be nice if the smoking section weren't in the front. The drinks were always well mixed and the other guests were friendly and warm. This could become my drop-in kinda cocktailbar. :))

I just checked out one or two other reviews...and they hated the smoking room being in the back... You can't please everybody. :)

Changing my review of the layback lounge and dropping two stars because the main room is now a smoking lounge and the non-smokers get ushered to the back room. So, even if you're a non-smoker, you get to pass through a huge cloud of thick smoke before getting to the non-smoking area - not to mention that the bar is in the smoking lounge now!

I really like the Layback Lounge. It's a nice, cozy bar in St Georg which serves delicious cocktails (half off before 21:00 on weekdays), has a large smoking lounge in the back which is surprisingly well aired-out, extremely friendly staff (some of the friendliest service I've encountered in Hamburg) and they play music quietly enough to chat with your friends without having to yell.

The Layback lounge isn't particularly close to any of the U-bahn stations, the closest you'll probably come is the U1 Lohmuehlenstrasse, from which it is a bit of a walk.

Well recommended for some week-day drinks after work with some friends.

You shouldn't really mark places down because you don't live anywhere near them, but I sort of am doing that now. I wouldn't really come out down Lange Reihe unless I also wanted to see my doctor, and he says it's OK to drink as much as you want and smoke 10 a day, so I never need to see him.

The cocktails are pretty good.

This bar gets extra points for being close to where I live. And also for nice drinks and good design. Cocktails are not my thing though, and more often I order Weizen beer.

This place is really really funky. I like it alot. Comfy as sofas, lots of “ambiance” (great place for a date!) and a nice a chilled out atmosphere. The cocktails are great and the bar staff are really quite nice - even taking the time to chat to you! And the DJ plays some really funky tunes in the background without being overbearing on your conversation. LayBack is great for afterwork drinks, pre cocktails before a big night or you could even just hangout here all night! The only thing that I did not like is the smoking room out the back…...kinda takes away the funky atmosphere and makes it feel more so like a smoking room in a Singapore airport…... But I’ll definitely be back!

Lay-back Lounge is a pretty cool bar in the St. Georg area. The cocktails are great, but get expensive after happy hour ends. One downside to the place is that it's nowhere near any of the tube stations, and so is a bit of a pain to get to.

I love this Lounge bar in my favourite German City Hamburg! Every single time when I come here I enjoy the great drinks, wonderful people and music.

This is a "must see" in Hamburg if you appreciate great cocktails in a trendy environment. The City of Hamburg has a lot to offer to young people who enjoy Food and Beverages.
