Ropetackle Fish and Chips

This evening I decided for the 3rd time to order dinner from here. The two previous times had been pretty standard. And this time was terrible! 

To start there was two items missing from the order! When I called to let them know...... They seemed very uninterested.


So we sit to eat what we had to find out that the two people having chicken pie BOTH had pies the we're not cooked!!!!! Great when your eating chicken!! 

Then my little sister pipes up not so quietly not happy that her savaloy was so cold how could we possibly expect her to eat it!!! 

And to top it all we couldn't even dip out semi warm left to long chips in the curry sauce because that was like water!!!! 


So I called back very unhappy that I had just spent over £20 on food that no one could eat and I now had to order more food from somewhere else..... I ask to speak to the manager who when he got on the phone said hello then started talking to someone else.... I explain all the above and his answer is well I can send two pies but the savaloys here are hot.... I tried to explain that I had 4 people left with no dinner and all he could say was well I can send two pies but my savaloys here are hott!!! 

I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND THIS PLACE TO SOMEONE I DID NOT LIKE!!!


ALTHOUGH I will say the young girl who takes the orders in the shop and on the phone is lovely, very helpful and would be suited working in a much better environment.....

Went to eat at this place on my birthday, after leaving the bridge inn
because we were told they had stopped serving food. Fish and chips is not my kind of food
but it also served burgers . I had a lovely Cheese and onion pasty and some chips. The chips were alright
but the service was frankly rubbish and the time it took to get our food was 45 minutes.They obviously
are more concerened with takeaway customers than people in the actually place. Two stars. If you want fish and chips, i suggest the one just up the street round the corner.

We choose yesterday Sunday 24/06/2012 to get take away fish and chips as the football was on.
We haven't had a takeaway before but eaten in the restaurant and always had lovely tasty fish and fleshy cooked crispy chips.

My husband and I both choose the large plaice - no other size available and we shared a large portion of large chips.

This cost - the pricely sum of £11.40 - as previously the meals have been very good we just  paid and when the food was cooked we collected it and went on our way back home to Southwick.

When I opened the box containing the plaice one piece had  a notch where flesh had been cut out causing it to  curled up and look very unppertising -the other piece of plaice  although no notch was definately not a large plaice nor was the curled up plaice.

The chips weren't fresh, but dried up and tasteless and certainly were not a large size at all.

Both pieces of  plaice unfortunately was also tasteless.
For 2 pieces of mediocre size plaice and a mean portion of chips - very,very poor value for £11.40.

Nice "Chipper" that opened in 2008.  Hopeless parking on the street...you'd be better parking up the end of John Street, (follow the parking signs), and walk back.  Really good seating and nice and warm ...something we needed to day..Brrr and wet.  Nice warm smiles from the staff as well.
The fish could not not be any fresher, ( 1st class), and done in a very light but crisp batter.  Chips excellent...one of the best chip lunches I've had for ages.  Lyn had Chicken and chips and that looked, smelt and tasted good.  Lovely crisp skin.  BIG PLUS.... they make a really good coffee..fabulous Lavazza Espresso, which I like taken down to an Americano.
Slightly more expensive than the average but, most definitely worth it.  Will be back for more, after we've dried out!!
