A run of the mill typical restaurant of a chain of pubs. Average food at very fair prices. This is a case of getting exactly what you pay for. Sometimes the wait for food after ordering is up to 30 minutes which is far too long. A large free car park at the side of the pub and a number of wooden bench seating with wooden tables outside.

We went to the Jovial Sailor for a team lunch today and everyone came away very impressed with both the food and the service. We eat out as a team fairly frequently and this is the first time we've all been so happy. The waiters were brilliant - very good service, friendly and very funny!

All in all I would highly recommend this pub & am definitely going back with my family.

We lunched here recently on a weekday. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy so we were rather disappointed with the service received. The main meal arrived quickly enough but they then seemed to forget about us. After waiting for about 40 minutes, we managed to place our pudding order - Cheesecake with Winter Berries. This arrived after just a few minutes but there were no winter berries.
Reasonably good value food but, in my opinion, nothing special. The cheesecake was a bit too sweet and sickly - perhaps it would have been better if it was served with the berries?

very extensive menu, good comfy pub, consistently good quality, great with kids, sunday lunch, garden, and very convenient to A3, M25. great location for a hearty meal and beer at the end of country ramble.

An above average country pub with acceptable service and a comprehensive menu.

Food here tends to the “gastro pub” format although it isn’t good enough to earn that badge. Portions are good although desserts are almost always microwaved if they’re not frozen!

Limited outside space which isn’t really suitable for children as the carpark is unfenced.

Some good band nights/lunches from time to time which are worth a trip.

The smoking ban has really improved this place!
