The Bothy

First choice every time when it comes to pubs in Kirkwall. Lively most of the week, only really rowdy at the weekends. Friendly staff, & a pretty decent drinks selection, especially whiskys, & usually at least one local ale on (though you'll pay a fair bit more for it than anything else on draft, possibly as it's mainly drunk by tourists....) Good for a quiet one or two or a good session. & speaking of sessions, stumbled across some folk music on a Sunday evening, hopefully this is a regular thing...

Part of the Albert hotel, The bothy bar is open to the public. It has a very rustic looking interior, with wooden booths and a coal fire in the corner. It definitely has an old-fashioned feel to it which it very popular with patrons. A nice, cosy place to come in Winter with reasonable drinks prices.
