Natureland Seal Sanctuary

Quite expensive for what's there but for a good cause and it is an entertaining day out, make sure you are there for feeding time

Fantastic for the kids! A great a day out!

I loved it when I went. The staff actually seemed to enjoy what they were doing and interacted with the seals and other animals well. It is clear that they are well looked after. A few are very well trained and put on a good show. One of them played a sort of bowling game. There was also a seagull that liked to hang out with the penguins there. I’d definitely go again because it was an enjoyable experience.

This is always one of our favourite places to go in the summer months (and occasionally in the winter if we’re feeling brave!) The children absolutley love it I think the main attraction is obviously the seals but my son loves the crocodile and looking at the spiders and snakes.
It is such a good and well worth cause with the seal hospital and the baby seals are just really adorable.

The last time we went they didn’t have the massive old crocodile but have now got some little babies and they are a bit more active which really appealed to my son!
We used to visit when i was a child and we always thought the big crocs were fake lol!
I also love the farm area with the goats, you can buy fod from the shop and feed them although they tend to help themselves if you’re not careful.
All in all a great place to visit when in skegness!

A great place to visit in Skegness - there’s all sorts of animals to see, the highlight of which has to be the seals, especially at feeding time. The baby seals in the seal hospital really do have the cute factor, and there’s plenty of information about Natureland’s fantastic work rescuing injured seals.

There’s also a reptile house, penguins, an aquarium, a butterfly house and a petting zoo. The shop sells bags of food which you can feed to the goats - just don’t turn your back or else they’ll snatch the bag from your hand and eat it, paper and all! You can sponsor an animal too - we’re the proud adoptive parents of a well-fed pygmy goat!

The staff here are great too and you can see that they really work hard and care for the animals.

It’s great for photography as well - if you have a zoom lens then you can get some great pictures of the seals, plus in the cooler months you can get close-ups of the butterflies as they remain motionless on the leaves. I sent some of my photos to Natureland and they have used them on promotional material.

Don’t visit Skeggy without a trip to Natureland!

If you only visit one place in Skegness this has to be it!!

although small the Seal Sanctuary is one amazing place. The main attraction are the seals and Natureland does a lot of work with abandoned baby seals which are so beautiful to watch.
You do get the chance to watch the seals being fed but the feeding times do vary so make sure you check them prior to visiting.

The feeding of the penguins is also not to be missed. The floral house contains butterflies by the hundreds which just flutter about the place and the tropical house houses crocadiles snakes and spiders.

We went here in the summer and its a very good place to visit when in skegness. The kids loved the seals, butterflies, birds, penguins and animals. They do a fantastic job helping stranded and injured seals in the area and use funding from visitors for their hospital and to get the seals back to where they belong…in the sea. They have scheduled feeding times that people can watch whilst they do various things with the seals and tell you all about them. The seals range from adults down to little babies. Absolultely loved it and would happily visit again when we’re next in the area

A trip to Skeggy is not complete without a trip to Natureland! Quite famous for its Seal Sanctuary and a massive range of animals make this a great attraction for all the family. Quite expensive to get in but when weighed up against what they have to offer, its well worth it.

my 6 year old little brother loved this place when he visted and couldn’t stop talking about it on the way home, it’s a really good place with the animals and he loved the live feeding sessions although the cost can be quite expensive you can find some good vouchers and deals that make it worth it.

I really enjoyed going here as i have 2 children and they love looking at the seals and watching what they do. The penguins were lovely and it was money well spent.

I think Natureland has to be one of the best days out in Skeggy.
I went along with my Nan and 2 teenage children and we all had a ball.
Some of the Harbour Seals are older than I am and they still have a lot of life in them as they wriggle around their pool and put on a show for onlookers.

The Baby Seals are so cute and it’s great how they look after orphaned babies by feeding them and strengthening them up before they go back out into the Wild.

The Penguins are very comical as they seemed to compete with the Baby Seals for the attention of the crowds. The male Penguin seemed to love having his photo taken as he climbed up the rocks to get as close to me as possible and pose for my camera.

The Petting zoo is fun for the kids to feed the goats and they are very tame. One goat took a liking to my son as he let him pet him and then nuzzled his hand when he stopped.

October is out of season for the Butterflies but the plants in the hothouse are Gorgeous and the Cacti are magnificent, so still worth a wander through.

I really enjoyed the Reptile house although the crocodiles were hiding under the bridge and I even loved watching the Tarantulas (From behind the glass) even though I am a well known arachnophobe.

We were lucky that we were there for feeding times. It was great to hear all about all the animals from someone who works with them very closely and obviously loves them so much. There was a little Q&A about the babies and we had the chance to buy merchandise. The Seal Sanctuary is a voluntary organisation and they have to raise all the cash to look after the animals themselves. I bought a Seal keyring for £1 and a notebook for £1.25, It is worth saying that they even take all the photos for the merchandise and literature themselves too.

The day ends with a trip round the aquarium and then an ice cream or Hot chocolate in the little outside cafe.

had a great day in here, we spent about 6 hours in here looking at all the different animals, watch out for the quails, they are tiny and i was worried i’d step on one. unfotunatley the prices have gone up so its procey if more than 2 of you go

I was surprised how good this was as it didn’t look much from the outside and it was cheap.

Natureland do a lot of work with seals which regularly get washed up in this area. Most of which are put back into the wild, often after some tender loving care. As already mentioned feeding time is very entertaining, but they are generally just amazing creatures to watch.

I would imagine this to be a great family day out as it won’t cost the world and there areas to sit and eat.

a very nice pla ce for adults and adults alike they have a whole array of animals including butterflies crocodiles a little area full of farm aninmals birds penguins a big tank of fish but best of all they have some nice big seals which you can see through glass walls and see the trainers feeding them at 2 o clock i think its a nice day out and is good to go if you have nothing to do and like to see a few nice animals

Natureland first opened it’s doors in 1965 and attracts thousands of visitors every year, we have been several times and it never fails to amuse us. The children absolutly love it.

My children also love feeding the pets in what they call their 'childrens corner’ which has goats, turkeys, rabbits and guinea pigs to name just a few.
Aside from the Koi Carp these are the only animals that can be fed by the visitors. The Koi Carp actually scared me when we fed them as one literally took the food out of my hand!!

They also have penguins, which are also part of the feeding which you will have the oppourtunity to see if you time your visit right.

The Tropical House is actually my least favourite part of Natureland though thats probably just because im a big wimp!! It is full of all sorts of different animals from crocodiles to snakes and spiders!!

Most are in glass tanks so its not to bad its when you have to walk over the bridge to get out and look down to find you are walking over crocodiles it makes you wonder what would happen if the bridge broke!!

The floral place is beautiful though the first time i went there wasnt much in bloom, in here you also have the flamingos, the tropical birds and butterflies flying around.

They have a blue lagoon restaurant inside Natureland which is reasonably priced though there isnt anything stopping you from taking your own food in as long as you dont feed it to the animals. There are picnic tables situated around Natureland.

The prices are very reasonable, and children under 3 go free.
