Brackenborough Road Post Office

This post office and shop gives good service much of the time. The problem is that one of the proprietors is rather unwelcoming to put it politely. He also tends to wrongly “guess” the dimensions of your parcel (in their favour, of course!) and on another occasion at this PO I paid for an item to be sent by recorded post and found that it hadn’t (luckily the recipient was honest). You’re probably better advised to visit the main PO in the town centre.

I love this post office. It’s the only one in Louth where you can park outside, so it’s a godsend for me as I can leave the children in the car where I can see them, and rush in to post my parcels. And then I can pick up a pint of milk if I need it! The post office is family-run and the service is quick and efficient. I was so pleased when this post office didn’t get closed down recently - it’s a town institution and rightly so.

I have to admit it isn’t the friendliest place I’ve been. This family run post office is quite intimidating as you walk in, largely due to its small size. However it stocks quite a few bits and pieces, as well as obviously being a post office. The main highlight for me would have to be the 'quarter’ sweets in the large jars behind the counter.

This is a traditional family run post office. Fronted by Blair, his wife, his mother and his father are all very much a part of the post office.

The shop itself is always clean and well presented, including the outside which has adequate parking for 2 cars.

Aside from the post office services they provide, they also stock a good range of sweets, crisps, drinks, magazines aswell as a few basic items bread, milk and sugar.
All at reasonable prices.

They tried to close this post office down last year, but after a lot of campaigning it stayed open, if i had a choice between using a main post office and this sub post office it would be this one everytime.

It is in a very convenient position for the local residents of Brackenborough, Jubilee and Keddington Areas. The majority of which are elderly so having the post office there makes life easier for them.

I do have a short video clip that was on Look North last year about them campaigning to keep the Post Office open which my then 2 year old daughter was actually in!
