Great little gem… Food is reasonably priced, the staff fairly attentive, and the food was great. The Lamb tagine was delicious and the meat fell off the bone. The sauce was really good too, although the soft drink glasses are a little bit on the small side. The restaurant isnt big, but cozy. The toilets were clean too. I would definatly return another time to try out more of the menu.

amazing. not to everyones taste but absolutely fantastic food and atmosphere
my only negative is that in morocco it is rare to find alcohol being served with authentic Moroccon food .. it should stick to its traditions if it is to obtain a reputation of moroccon authenticity

Azou in Hammersmith, elected Gordon Ramsay's best North African Restaurant in 2010, what an absolute disappointment. I actually felt embarrassed for them!
We booked after the TV show which was in November and waited so long for: a shocking welcome, no lamb!, the slowest service ever (45 min between our arrival and our starters), no water, our bill given to the wrong table, over loud music and only 2 dishes out of 5 worth it: Brik and Tajine El Ain (with chicken).
Total £66 - AVOID

My husband and I travelled a long way to eat at Azou after having seen it on the best restaurant show. We were not disappointed! We tried three starters - the baba ganoush, the hot salad (chakcouka?) and the falafels - all were excellent and the accompanying pita bread was fresh warm and delicious. My husband remarked that it was the first time in a long time that the starters left him wanting more of the same!
For mains we had the the Tagine Romanne and the Tagine Marrakesch. WOW. Delicious. The only thing I would have liked would have been to see some vegetables in the Romanne, but perhaps that is not the authentic way yo do it? Regardless, it was a perfect blend of sweet and sour.
For dessert we had the baklava and it was the best I have ever had - not sickly sweet like one so often gets - perfection in a mouthful.
We will definitely go back again and again.
PS. If you go, try the Morrocan lager - it was halfway to an ale and very delicious as well.

My wife and I travelled a long distance to dine at Azou with the impression 'Gordon Ramsey must have had good taste' for selecting it even though it lost the competition.
Positives:
-Staff were friendly
-Cozy
Negatives:
-vegetable in the chicken tagine was turning - you could taste the food going off!! staff (Serje, nice enough waiter) was informed. Despite this we were still presented with the full bill, which we paid. Gordon Ramsey had pointed this out during their secret filmed visit. Since losing the competition they appear not to be bothered. Since appearing on TV they have been inundated with bookings by unsuspecting customers.
-no ginger ale available (to go with the Brandy)
-no Moroccan wine as published in their PC printed menus
-waited 20 mins to receive the bill after requesting it.
-lamb tagine tasted like lamb shank with curry sauce poured over it.
If the chef could have stewed it in the sauce it could have tasted incredible rather than jarring.
2 out of 10

I have been going to Azou for years now and it is simply my favourite restaurant in London. The food is fantastic, the setting magical and the service impeccible.
The constantine tajine is to die for!!!

Visited Azou in Hammersmith because it has many good reviews, from press and customers, and we weren't disappointed. The service is excellent, the atmosphere cosy and relaxing, and the food exceptional. It is also good value so was a fantastic dining experience

I can’t remember what we paid but it would have been no more than £15 each (we wouldn’t have paid more), I had Lamb Couscous and my husband had Lamb Tagine with a side of Couscous, both were excellent and service was great, mine could have done with a little bit more flavour but this is not a complaint as I chose it. My husband can recommend the Casablanca beer.

This is an intimate little restaurant specilaising in North African Cuisine. They have a wide range of dishes from many parts of North Africa like Algeria,Morocco,Tnisa and Egypt. The tagines are a must to try and the wine list simple but not extensive.
