Don't know what I think about this place I took my family here for a Indian and I found a hair in my food and the food wasn't really the best need fresher food. Taste like the food has just been lying there for ages. Probably recommend sangatpur gate as it is the BEST should try it will blow your head off.

WESTPRINGLE What a load of rubbish. I have been going to this restuarant for about 20 years, and I have never had a bad meal. We are prepared to travel 18 miles for a meal here on a regular basis.

Review of Shish Tandoori from 2 January 2011

My Wife and I often eat at this Indian Restuarant. Both my wife and I agree that is probably the most consistant indian meal you will ever get. We eat a lot of indian food, and often are disappointed at other places as the meal we got previously are different the next time. Not so with this restuarant, it is always perfect.

As with the other reviews above we agree with all they say. The nan's look like Africa, and are nearly the same size! They are also delicious. I never manage to finish my meal and always take a doggy-bag home so it makes it even more value for money.

The curries themselves are up there with the best we have had. You will not believe the amount of chicken or lamb you get with your meal. The menu says they don't use artificial colouring in their food so it may not be as deep coloured as other Indian Restuarants, but to be honest, I don't find that; the meals look just as good as anywhere else we eat. We recommend this restuarant!

Review of Shish Tandoori from 26 June 2009

Please note: This Shish has moved to Market Street, next door to the Cinema, in the Old Railway Pub.

Excellent food for a reasonable price. It was a bit different from normal Indian Cusine as they don’t use colourings, so the food looks somewhat different from what you normally have. But the quality can’t be faulted.

On the night my wife, lad and myself went there was a buffet on at reasonable prices, but we opted to eat from the menu.

I had a mixed tandori, it was huge and very good quality. The nan breads are huge, so I would not order one apiece, but share.

I would recommend this to anyone who visits the town, IMO one of the best resturants in the town.

One downside, it is very popular, so booking a table can be essential at weekends.

Have to agree with other reviewers this is the best Indian in the town.

The ingredients are really fresh and of high quality and the prices are so reasonable it is a really affordable treat to go here.

I have taken friends and relatives for meals here as they can always be relied upon to deliver and the buffet nights are a great way to try some of the more unusual dishes they offer…well worth a visit if you are down this way!

Great local Indian restaurant right in the heart of Galashiels and even better just next door to the local cinema. Tasty fresh food on offer, and on tuesdays and thursdays a buffet is also on offer.

Well worth the effort - I think the best Indian in the borders

Best Indian restaurant in Galashiels, and a lovely Indian restaurant in eneral. Decor - modern (no heavily patterned carpets and saris pinned to the walls), white table linen pale coloured wals. Wooden floors make the restaurant a bit noisy but not too bad. Menu is extensive. The restaurant specialises in tandoori dishes and these are delicious, and the servings are HUGE. We usually have a starter then share the tandoori mixed platter because there is way too much food for one person (I know, because I ordered it for myself the first time we ate here and could only manage about half of the dish). The restaurant does a buffet on a Tuesday, but the food on the buffet is generally just the usual butter chick, lamb rogan josh etc, whereas I would really recommend you choose from the menu and try the tandoori dishes, as this is where the restaurant excels.

Prices are a little higher than other Indian restaurants in the town, but well worth the extra £1 or £2.

A brilliant restaurant, the food is just so fresh, you’ll be blown away at how good it is and it makes other curry houses paile in comparison!

try it and you will not be disappointed..i promise!!

Takeaway is great too, food comes in those clear containers rather than tinfoil. all adds to the sense of quality

This is the best indian restaurant you will ever eat in and this is no exaggeration. I used to live over this way and unfortunately didn’t discover this place until shortly before I moved. But it is so good, I wouldn’t hesitate making the 140 mile round trip to eat there - honestly!

The restaurant offers both take away and eating in, both are just as good as the other. With it being next to the local cinema it is handy to get a bite of eat before or after a film.

The restaurant is clean, neutrally decorated and well laid out. But it is the food that makes it so special. They advise on the menu that your food may look slightly less colourful than in other indian restaurants. This is because they do not use artificial colours or flavors so it is all natural and you really can taste the difference. The food is absolutely phenomenal.

Everyone I know who has eaten here says it is the best they have ever had by far.

The Scottish Borders is a lovely part of the world so I would suggest it is well worth a trip. A day in the Borders and your evening meal at the Shish Tandoori. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
