I came to the salon today with the time-out voucher and I must admit that the staff was very hospitable and the overall atmosphere of the salon was extremely amicable. This was my first visit to the salon and I'm very impressed with my haircut and the keratin treatment. I look forward to going there again!!!!!!
The decor is incredible?! You must be kidding?! While I am not expecting a star quality experience with a living social deal, I have to admit my first thought on entering the salon was "run". The salon is shabby, at best. There are no tables or shelves for your magazine or drinks, just a rickitty old plastic trolley. The "bathroom" was a tiny, dirty, small little toilet that you literally had to squeeze behind a bookcase to get to!! The hairdresser kept going out for a fag while my colour was on, and at one point his friend popped in for a chat. Also, be aware that put a liquid colour on your hair which means sitting with your head in the uncomfortable basin for half an hour.
Having said all of that, I was very happy with the cut and colour I had in the end, and was very good value with the living social deal. Just dont expect plush surroundings or star treatment!
Dear Customer, I am glad you were ‘very happy with the cut and colour’ which I did in the evening yesterday; as you wrote today. Thanks to Qype’s prompt notification, I was very pleased to find out about it! I am sorry if it upset you that I’ve had my 5 minutes cigarette break during those 20 minutes, while your colour was developing. I thought I made you feel very comfortable, you had two cups of exquisite traditional tea, we also made sure you had the latest magazines and a glass of spring water with lemon during the time of the colour development. Usually, we apply semi-permanent colours on the long hair next to the basin and I did inquire if you were ok during those 10 minutes.
I am very proud of working here, and I regret if our antique bookcase, a century-old victorian desk and vintage oak floor were a little too shabby for your taste. Apologies that the trolley where we served you drinks was aesthetically unpleasing for you, I dont like those trolleys either, but they are very practical as they can accommodate a lot of magazines and a tray with drinks. You also mentioned that ‘a friend popped in for a chat’; this was a customer who was booked earlier but was late for his appointment. After I finished styling your hair, I started to work with his hair when you were leaving the salon, as you remember. Sorry I had to speak in a different language, he did not speak English.
Ones again, I apologise if I made you feel uncomfortable in any way, this was not my intention, and I hope to see you again soon. Perhaps, we can try a different shade of red for your hair? Best wishes, Your Stylist
I think I should print a retraction of sorts as I have been feeling bad about my comments! I have had lots of compliments on my haircut and colour so I guess that is all that really matters! I think that you should find a different way of putting the colour on as those sinks are incredibly uncomfortable, but yes, you did check to see if I was ok and when I mentioned I was uncomfortable you did move me. I also apologise for referring to your friend when he was a client. I stand by thinking it was slightly bad form to have to squee behind the bookcase, the standard of the toilet, and the smoking though! Prospective customers shouldn’t let the look of the place put them off as you did do a really good job.
I've been getting highlights done at Alterity for 3 years now. I am so particular about my blonde highlights, I like them to look natural and have dimension. I'm definitely a brunette (last I checked), so it's hard for some hair stylists to figure out how to make it happen. Viola mixes the colors perfectly so it looks like you are a natural blonde. She's also great at suggestions if you want to try something new or leave it up to her. She's so picky about her beautiful blonde hair too, she's also super cute, and easy to talk to... If you're a blonde, go to Viola! Oh, and my husband's been getting his hip haircuts at Alterity studio for almost 10 years!
I love this place. The decor is incredible, friendly staff, lively and fun, no arrogance, they offer you drinks ( tea, water, booz). I have been going to the salon for years even before they've changed the name, and after trying a few stylists, have found one i liked. I love how versatile she is, but also, she actually listens to what i want and cuts my hair exactly how i want it. Great service, lots of patience, good deals and i'm critical as anything! I look forward to going there each time!
