I used to really rate this restaurant.  If we were going out for a special dinner, this would be the place.  However, the last couple of times we were in there, I was very unimpressed with the service.  I can't fault the food.  It's always been good, but, unless you are prepared to just sit and relax and be prepared for a long wait, I would not recommend it.  If you get a bit uptight with being kept waiting, then this is not for you.  That said, I was previously really impressed.  There was one waitress in particular who was very good and attentive.  She was great with the children of the party and even set up a separate table and gave them drawing stuff to keep them entertained while the adults relaxed with their meal and drinks.

Like most places, I guess your experience very much depends on what staff are working that day.  Maybe we were just unlucky.  However, once, you put down to an off day.  Twice? - well, do you really want to take the chance of having a third negative experience?  I haven't been back.

Excellent lunch with friends and family. Brilliantly catered for our party of 8, including 4 kids and one vegetarian. Food, service and surroundings all superb. Would recommend to anyone. A little pricier than most places in Killie, but you definitely get what you pay for at The Jefferson.

Delicious food, good atmosphere, friendly staff.

If you are worried you won’t get your money’s worth, then fear not, you do indeed get what you pay for, big portions, lots of choice.

I’ve not heard any bad reviews and almost everyone I know has been.

Very nice resturant with a great menu and polite staff. Slightly more expensive than most resturants in the Kilmarnock area, however as the old saying goes - you get what you pay for. Good choice on the menu although a lot more fish dishes on the main than you normally find in this area. Courses are a little on the small side as is the fashion these days but if you have 3 they do fill you and are nicely presented. If you are looking for somewhere for a pleasant night out then their is little competition to The Jefferson in Kilmarnock.
