After being seated fairly promptly and given our menus we were asked if we would like a drink so we ordered them whilst looking through the menu; we were left for 25 minutes waiting for the drink then it was dropped off at the table we were not even asked if we were ready to order!  I complained to the waitress who after 45 minutes at the table came to take the order and told her we would be leaving - needless to say we didn't have to pay for the drinks and they were sorry but they were busy! Maybe more staff is required or have less tables

On a visit to Hull we thought we'd stop off on the way out of town for a bite to eat. There were 5 adults and a child so we knew roughly how much we'd spend. After waiting for a while for someone to seat us we looked at the menu for our choices. I asked for a Cappuccino which they couldn't do only regular coffee. We all ordered our various meals, nothing fancy just a couple of burgers, chicken and a childs chicken nugget meal with a few soft drinks (and a coffee!) My meal (a burger) was probably the second worst meal I've ever had couldn't finish it. When we got the bill (over £100) I paid and needless to say left no "gratuity". I wish that I had just gone with my first instinct and pulled into the macdonalds opposite. The place looks very worn and borderline dirty. Cutlery was thrown onto the table and the glasses were big chunky efforts. I'm not fussy but when I've been to the same franchise in the Chester area everything is of a far better standard. Looks like the people of Hull will put up with this standard. Would recommend people to avoid this place at all costs!

i went here on a friday night about a month ago, the place was fairly busy as it was around 6pm. My wife and i were seated quickly, drinks arrived within a few minutes. the waitress who waited on us was brilliant. she knew her job was entertaining and very polite. i ordered the 16 ounce steak which was new to the menu, if your a steak fan this is the steak you want. it was huge with no fat or grissle and it was cooked exactly right and seasoned perfectly. My wife got a pasta dish which she said was lovely too. The service was excellent and i would happily recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting great food served with a smile..

Review of Frankie & Benny's from 10 November 2008
(updated on 29 March 2011 )

I rang my partner and suggested she take me here for some Lunch she had pasta which was fine, I had a Calzone although a bit burnt on the outside but it was authentic enough to be OK for a typical Italian/American franchise restaurant. (I didn't expect a lot after all it is only £6.95 or something like that for lunch great value),

However there lurking on the edge of my plate was that purple and green stuff along with a slice of the red tomato trying to convince the diner that it was salad.

This lettuce however was limp and had the constituency of a Vielida floor cloth, I had the cheek to point it out to the waitress after the meal (actually it was the manageress as I later discovered) that the lettuce was not very fresh, to which said replied that it is fresh every 2 days. I tried to assure her that it most definitely wasn't to which she turned round in a very rude manner "well it is so der".

When she returned from the kitchen I asked her name and she refused to give it to us saying "no I’m not telling you my name" when I asked why "cos I'm not" and walked off.

My partner asked our original waitress who took the order who she was and she said that she was "the manageress". I should point out that at no point was I wanting anything of the bill or free or anything else I was just trying to point out the one shortfall in the trimmings.

I have written to F & B's head office with a complaint regarding this and will add there comments to this review when or if a reply is received.

If there is ever a Qype award for the worst Waitress I nominate the manageress on duty (I believe her name to be Kate) at 1.00pm on the 5th November 2008 at Frankie & Benny's Kingswood HULL.

I wouldn’t recommend you go though it's not worth the hassle.

Frankies and Bennys is sometimes great, but other times it has really let me down. The service and food is either usually great, or poor. A few times I have been and its been brilliant, everything cooked to perfection and the service good, but other times , the food was not of high standard. This restaurant seems to lack consistency in its quality. But if you're willing to gamble then go to Frankies and Bennys because when its great, its really great! They sell everything from Mussels, to burgers, to pizzas but sometimes I feel that it is a little over priced for what it is.

Frankie and Bennies is an American Italian diner, a popular chain. They serve food that you may find in an American Diner, such as large pizzas, pasta, meatballs or burgers.
I love Frankie and Bennies. The portions here are HUGE, the service is excellent and it is really good value. They have offers on over the lunch hour, and kids menus for both young chilren and teenagers.
The selection of food is very good, and it is prepered through an open area so you can see them making your food.
Both myself and my daughter love this cain, and go once a month. This tends to cost £15 for the two of us during the special lunch time offer (available til about 5 'o clock).

Lovely soup of the day.. tomato and basil,it was very tasty and the pizza was delicious although we were told it was a 30 minute wait for a table we were seated and ordered within 15mins, very clean place and the serivce was ok, but you cna be ignored when you first enter. They also offer a food warmer for those of us with little babies

Decided to try this place due to the proximity to the cinema and because I had a two for one voucher. I really wish I hadn’t have bothered and had spent the £20 on pocorn and Minstrels….
It started off very badly with the inattentive staff member who ignored us because he was too busy cleaning a table. He even glanced up at us and then away. In the end, after 5minutes standing around staring pointedly at him, the bar man who had called over to him to alert him to our arrival showed us to a seat! My companion suggested we leave then and we should have done.
We started with the calamari (which was ok, but nothing special and came with a horrible paper pot containing tomato sauce which was allegedly spicy) and the mussels - these were incredibly disappointing. The few mussels there were were not fresh, tiny, overcooked, luke warm and the tomato sauce (seemingly the same one as in my pot) seemed to contain more bacon and onion than seafood.
The main course of ribs was passable, the meat soft and well cooked but swimming in a very sweet, overly cloying barbecue sauce. The “American Hot” pizza was just plain bad. Greasy, limp, uncooked, floury base with greasy, tasteless, sparse topping. No spice, no use.
The bad service continued all the way through the meal, surly, ill mannered and ignoring us until, of course, it was time for the bill…..
I wasn’t expecting much from this chain as I had been to others, but this one was particularly bad and I would suggest you avoid it - there’s a KFC next door!
