Boisdale of Bishopsgate

Great food, great service, shame about the loud suits at the bar during lunchtime.

Besuited Gorillas aside, Mrs Gastronaught and I had a very pleasant lunch here. Prices are reasonable (given the location), portions generous and the food is simple and delicious.

If you can find it (the restaurant is tucked away down an alleyway near to Liverpool Street station) you won’t be disapointed with Boisdale. The decor is warm and the staff are very friendly, but the food is the restaurant’s main selling point and it is superb.

The steak is cooked to perfection and came with a side order of delicious hand cut chips or amazing garlic mashed potato. The starters were also fantastic. The wine, although very expensive, was also amzing and well worth the price. Luckily, when I visited, someone else was paying!

Very nice restaurant, close to Liverpool Street. It can be very difficult to find, it is down a very small alleyway so keep your eyes peeled. The upstairs area is more of a bar, and you can have some bar snacks. Downstairs is the more formal restaurant. I went on a weekday and it wasn’t too busy, but it may be worth booking on a Friday.

The staff were very attentive and service was quick. There was an interesting menu - we had a range of oysters to start and haggis for the main. All in our party very much enjoyed their food. It was not cheap but given the quality and location this was to be expected. Would definitely revisit.
