6 reviews of five rise locks in English
This site is one of the great wonders of the English waterways. Watch in fascination as boats climb and descend the flight. A great place to start a walk too.

I’ve just taken up mountain biking again recently and started off at the five rise locks in Bingley. The first thoughts you have is what an amazing sight to see 5 locks all in a row.
The cafe at the top is definetely worth a visit as you can see all the hussle and bussle of bikers, runners, walkers and families on a day out.
Be warned that if you are on a bike or running that the hill to get back up the five rise locks is a steep incline and should only be tempted by those who dare.

If you ever get to walk the Leed/Liverpool canal in the West Yorkshire area be sure to stop by the Five Rise locks. This is a feet of amazing engineering and it does what it says on the tin by raising or lowering a canal boat down five locks. This takes a while but it’s amazing to watch and draws the crowds during summer months. Better stil why not hire a canal boat and give the lock a try. There is a lock keeper who’ll help you to do the opening and closing. There is also a nice little cafe at the top of the locks that will help you while away the time it take s to navigate the five rises!

Small cafe situated at the top of Bingley’s 5 rise locks. It’s a perfect place to stop for a drink and bit to eat. You can either sit inside or they have tables outside so you can sit and watch the world/canal boats go by. It also opens Boxing day so a good place to go for a post Christmas stroll

A lovely place for a picnis, watch the boats come in and go out. There’s cafe about if you fancy a cup of tea and a few benches for a sit down, but really just marvel at the engineering.
