This is an excellent service station that is independent unlike other service stations. It is in a lovely setting amongst the lakeland hills. Food is great using local produce. Fry ups are amazing! We always try to stop here when on the M6.

As I am weekly traveller of the M6 I always stop at the Westmoreland services to pick up something from their farm shop. Another reviewer mentioned a “small” farm shop. For local meat and chesses I think it is the biggest, nicest farm shop I’ve found the length and breadth of Britain. I always stop for an espresso and often indulge in one of their awesome cumberland sausage rolls. The sparrows in the car park enjoy any left over pastry and that just adds to the experience. Their new fresh butcher shop on the southbound side (accessible from either north or southbound carriageways) has some of the best beef I’ve ever eaten--Particularly their delicious T-Bones. Stop by and enjoy. The hotel is lovely if it is late and one isn’t prepared to make the full drive home. Their restaurant uses the same local ingredients and they’ve got nice local beers as well!
A very satisfied regular customer.

Ah yes, the king of British service stations. Not a Welcome Break, Moto, McDonalds, KFC, WH Smith in sight. Great choice of food, excellent stuff using local produce. And a farm shop as well (currently being renovated, Oct. 08). Food is a bit pricey mind, but it is a service station after all.
Top marks, worth a visit even if you’re not hungry.
