Wow – that just sounds amazing. I do love Calamari, when cooked properly. I wish I lived closer as it sounds lovely.

It wast the first time for us at this restaurant and we will certainly be going back. My wife and I had a diner at Melange with a few friends on Friday evening and had a great time. Food was tasty in particular steaks and chargrilled chicken breast with mushroom sauce. We also had tomato and garlic breads to share, both delicious. Great service, good food and lovely atmosphere

Recommended by my sister I went to try Melange last Thursday and I was pleasantly surprised! The food was fantastic my boyfriend and me shared some roquefort and walnut salad and a mackerel rillette form the set menu, which I have to say is very good value for money £13.95 for 3 courses. For my main I had grilled chicken with potatoes dauphine and mushroom sauce which was a treat and my boyfriend equally enjoyed his mushroom risotto from set menu. All in all we had a great evening and we will definitely going back soon.

Romantic atmosphere and delicious food. One of the best Restaurants I have recently visited. Definitely recommended for a couples and groups ( ask for the soft corner seating if you are fan of Charlie Chaplin).

I couldn't resist having the risotto again and was joined by my father in law who was equally impressed.
Mrs. J. and my very discerning Mother in Law both opted for the steak. Without a lie, they both professed them to be some of the best they had ever had. Melange is now firmly on our list of Crouch End eateries.
Next time, we're going to take the kids.
My only recommendation to the Melange team would be to put a really good, reasonably priced house white and red on the wine list, in these slightly austere times.

My daughter, on the other hand, is vegetarian so it's quite tricky to make her happy. Thanks God, it was her who chose Melange so she had planned Roquefort and Walnut Salad, no main course and Creme Brulee. And my husband was easy to please with Reblochon Pissaladiere, Fillet Steak and Creme Caramel.
I guess we only loved Melange because everyone knew what they were doing - food was tasty and on time, waitress was friendly and polite, the ambiance was great with the low lighting and the Charlie Chaplin movies.
After this dinner, I went back for lunch and a few times just for coffee and dessert. It's just a well hidden gem.

Lovely place for a cup of coffe, dinner or lunch. I really enjoyed every second in there. Nice interior, friendly staff and the most important - delicious food.
Compliments to the Chef.

My only criticism would be that two weeks ago I came here and had the Goats Cheese Tart and it came a delicious filo pastry filled with goats cheese and served with rocket. Tonight I went again, and ordered the goats cheese tart, advertised as a tart, and it came a piece of grilled goats cheese served on a piece of toast with rocket. It was nice and I couldn't be bothered to say anything but it didn't go un-noticed let's put it that way. If you advertise a tart you should serve a tart it is as simple as that.
The place is such good value for money and great food I didn't have the heart to complain to be honest.

Oh it means a lot to us, and thank you so much for taking your time to review Melange.
Sorry for a little confusion, but am I right thinking that 2 weeks ago, you came on weekend and had goats cheese tart from the weekend specials menu and this time it was either main or set menu? There are 2 different dishes: baked goats cheese and goats cheese tart, and its 2 different names. Glad you enjoyed them both :) we only updated our menu recently, promise to update our online menu ASAP as well to avoid any confusion in the future
Thank you again for you kind words, and hope to see you soon again.

Yes you are right apologies for the confusion. I just had in my mind to eat that delicious pastry again!
Keep up the excellent stuff, Value for Money and quality you are the best I’ve ever seen in London
This is a new and refreshing restaurant in Crouch End (N8). Food is French Italian and excellent - certainly the best steak in Crouch End. The chef is passionate about food and very proud of his steaks. The menu is varied, so something for everyone. Excellent value too (too many restaurants in the area are now overpriced and under quality). Very relaxing modern interior. They project old B&W movies onto the wall which makes for a great atmosphere. Friendly staff. You won't be disappointed, we were really impressed.
Also great for morning coffee. Especially on Sundays as the seats outside get the sun.

After passing 'Melange' a few times and then glancing at the somewhat small menu we decided to give it a try one evening.
WOW!
It's good! It's really good!!
I'm often let down by UK restaurants, even the pricey ones but Melange does something very well - it provides food that has been lovingly prepared by someone who knows exactly what they are doing.
I had the steak and chips. Perfect. Excellent meat, fantastic chips and the entire plate was bursting with flavour. My wife had a chicken dish and loved it.
The food is fairly rich / substantial and has bags of flavour and character.
Today I popped in for a small breakfast - Eggs florentine with an Americano, £5.90 not bad at all.
Melange is honest, simple and a fantastic addition to Crouch End. Please support a local restaurant and pay them a visit!
