Hi Tracy,
Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately my memory of this visit is a little fuzzy as it was 6 months ago, but what I do remember was as you said, that your hair was in bad condition and the ends were straight and the roots were curly.
I also remember that you only wanted a trim, and that wasn’t going to be enough to get your hair back into a condition that could be worn curly, which is why I blow dried it. If I’d have diffused it, I’m sure it would have looked a mess and you wouldn’t have been please with that either.
Getting you hair back into condition is going to be a long journey and not something that can be done in 1 visit.

56 reviews of Guy Christian Hair Salon in English
As I said, I have always had problems trying to find someone to cut my thick curly hair well. So much so I straightened it for a while, but it was such hard work I decided to go back curly although the transition from straightened to curly was taking a little while as it had become quite damaged and brittle. It was a dreadful mess and I had a trip to the States planned so I thought I would go to Guy Christian to get it sorted out as I had heard good things about him.
In Guys defence, I found him to be polite and courteous, and I didn't have to wait too long to see him. However, I felt he didn't really listen to me and worst of all after cutting he insisted on blow-drying it straight before I left the salon! As a straight style it was a nice cut but I didn't want it straight I wanted it curly, and as it was straight when I left the salon I had no way of knowing how it would look curly until I got home and washed it, which I didn't think was quite right. I should at least have some idea of whether or not I like my cut before I leave the salon. When I did get home and washed it was terrible! I hated it! The shape at the back was all wrong, the front was too long and it was super frizzy from blow-drying with a round brush! I was in tears, and I didn't have the time to go back to get it fixed before I went to America so my only option was to fork out for some dual voltage straighteners and adaptor plug, and faff around every day I was there straightening it! Best of all, the damage from using straighteners again put me back in that messy transition stage again, and it's still hasn't fully recovered now five months on!
All in all very disappointing and extremely frustrating as it seems from some of these reviews that Guy Christian is actually very good with curly hair, just not mine for some reason. Why???

This is the only salon in Cardiff i've found which can get the platinum, silver colour i like.
Price is great! i get student discount during the week, and considering i was in there for over 3 and half hours the price was great for the amount of time and products they used. I think i was even discounted a bit more this time because i didnt have time for a full dry finish.

Thanks for the review Natasha, great to hear you had a good time.
See you soon!
I’d been using clip in extensions for about 8 years until I heard that Guy Christian Salon had started doing Great lengths extensions. Some friends of mine have them and they always rave about them so thought I’d try for myself.
I had to go for a consultation for them to match my colour and talked about style and aftercare.
I got the exact look I wanted, you can’t see the bonds and them blend in perfectly. I ordered 20 inch hair to start…… Which was too long for me in the end so had a bit cut off…. but personal preference!!
They are not a that much harder to look after either, they take a bit longer to dry..clearly as there’s far more hair …I don’t blow dry them properly though… I just rough dry mine, then straighten or curl (mainly because I’m lazy) you need a soft brush with them too & that’s about it.
To cut a long story short, I will never go back to clip-ins- I’m completely hooked!!
thanks Guy Christian, I’ll certainly be back.

I’ve only recently joined QYPE and decided to share my experiences of hairdressers in Cardiff. These visits to hairdressers took place over the past two years, when I have chance I will go back to my reviews and add the date of visit. For Guy Christian I visited on the 2nd of July 2011, I think the appointment was either 10 or 11am. I you like I can send photos of before and after to show what happened. I did receive an email from Guy Christian which was very considerate and even offered to correct the colour however as you can see the visit was a long time ago now! I regret not contacting the salon after the visit as I’m sure in retrospect they could have helped sort the colour out if not the cut (I was however going on holiday the day I had my hair done so had no time to do anything about it).
I may be tempted to go back as they seem keen to resolve any issues but it is a case of once bitten twice shy…
Not only that Christian was up front and told me that what I wanted wouldn't work and what would be better but eventhough he suggested my hair would look better cut shorter he took my wishes into account and hardly touched the length.
Thanks Christian, i'll definitely be back.
Faith

Thanks for the review, it’s great to hear we’re getting it right! See you soon.
One of my highlights has to be the foot rests and massage chairs where you get your hair washed!
The staff are always friendly and the service is great. Surprisinglly good value for money, I feel at Guy Christian you get the London top salon experience but with Cardiff prices.
Would definitely reccomend to anyone who is thinking about going, I promise you will not regret it.

Thanks for the review, Aysha was chuffed to bits. See you soon.
This is a very good salon with lovely staff. I have used various high end salons in Cardiff, in the bay and city centre, and this one is the best by far. There is a real vibrancy to the place and everyone’s hair looks great when they leave. The best hairdresser experience around.

Firstly, I very rarely commit to products and services before snooping at online reviews. So, two years ago I was fortunate enough to stumble across extremely positive reviews about Guy Christian salon. I rang to book my appointment at the nearest opportunity. I’m so glad I did, it’s two years later and I can honestly say each time has been a real treat. The overall experience, customer service and most importantly the end result are consistently fantastic.
The salon itself is beautiful and very well thought out with a spacious reception, eclectically furnished waiting area, a large enough salon floor to receive a personal and creative service and a private wash basin area with faaabulous shiatsu back massage chairs.
I always ask for Kayleigh for my highlights who listens, works her magic and delivers great results. As any blonde will know, eliminating brassiness and maintaining a cool ash blonde can be quite a challenge. This salon is the first salon in Cardiff (I’ve pretty much tried them all) who really gets this. The results are a beautiful pearly ash blonde time and time again.
The complimentary drinks selection is spot on and the music adds to the whole pampering experience. Christian has literally covered every base, an aesthetically pleasing salon, the latest glossy magazines, student discounts, loyalty cards, an extensive product range… I could write all day about the positive customer experience, they are a very talented, friendly and creative team! As always I am looking forward to my next visit. See you guys soon!
Keep up the good work Christian!

I usually hate going to the hairdressers. They never seem to listen to what I want (my worst experience was at Vidal Sassoon – they gave me a horrible haircut which I didn’t ask for and which didn’t suit my face shape at all, and when I asked if I could style it with a little backcombing before I left the salon, the hairdresser laughed and said ‘we don’t DO backcombing here’!!)
Guy Christian has been a revelation. I first went there when I’d tried to bleach my own hair. It didn’t go well. I ran over to the salon and they saved me, succesfully turning it a lovely ash-blonde.
I’ve been back a couple of times for cuts, with a different stylist each time, and they’ve always been fantastic. The most recent cut I had was by Brandon, who is a really nice guy, and who gave me an awesome rockabilly-style fringe. I love it!
The salon itself is gorgeous (the mirrors are to die for), and the selection of art / design books in the waiting room are far more interesting than your average Heat magazine. I actually look forward to getting my hair cut now :) thanks Guy Christian!

My mum always used to cut my hair for the 19 years of my life until I went to uni, teaching me to never go to a salon because it was a waste of money. Then at uni one of my friends coaxed me into dying my naturally blonde hair chocolate brown (BIG MISTAKE!) and I knew that this was something my mum couldn’t sort out. Then I found out about Guy Christian through a promotion they were doing (around 4-5 years ago now, must be, Sky Promotion) and Kayleigh, after several visits, made my hair even more beautifully blonde than it had ever been and continually does so (she’s my hair angel I dunno what I’d do without her now)!! I’ve had it cut over the fewa years by Jay, Laura and Christian and all of them are fab fab fab. I’m gutted I live in Germany now but I go back every time I’m back in the country, I would never go anywhere else. And here’s the best bit: even my mum has been there now a few times, and loved it… the woman who told me never to go to a salon! If that’s not proof, I don’t know what is ;) !!

That will be end of March… my roots are starting to show!!!
I chose Guy Christian Hair Salon because of the internet reviews and I’m very glad I did. I must say I don’t usually enjoy a visit to the hairdresser because I have what could be described as difficult hair – half curly and half straight. However, I booked in with Christian and am now officially a convert – he’s an excellent hairdresser, he listened to what I want and cut and styled it beautifully – I love my hair and the whole experience felt like a real treat from start (a nice big glass of red wine) to finish (walking out feeling wonderful). I won’t be going anywhere else in future.

I’m not one to conform to vanity and find the best place/things, but because the last place where I went to to get my hair done was getting incredibly unprofessional by the day, I had to leave it and find a new one. So I went to the next closest hair salon to my house; Guy Christian Hair Salon. It was about 16 months ago that I first went there, and I was really, really, impressed with the professionalism (amongst other things). The work was very nice as well. So I’ve been going there ever since and every time I leave feeling content. I would very highly recommend this place to everyone (especially Jay (not because the others aren’t as good, but because I’ve only had my hair done by him so I speak from experience)).
Keep up the good work, and sorry for the late review!

I’m so happy I found Guy Christian!!!
After going to the same hairdresser for foils for nearly 8 years, I didn’t know what I’m going to do when I move to Cardiff, so i just kept re-doing my highlights when I was going bk home, which is not really convenient..
I started looking online and after reading all the reviews decided to go to Guy Christian – it’s been my 2nd time at GS last week and I must admit that Vicki did a great job again!!! She got the right colors and I love my highlights now!!
Thank you!!!

Thanks for the review Savina, can’t wait to see you next time!
I <3 Guy Christian!
I’ve always been one of those people that hates going to the hairdressers, but I find GC to be so friendly and relaxed, I am always put at ease. And the massage rollers in the chairs whilst you have your hair washed are heavenly!
I always ask for Jay when he is available – he is my hair hero! I love that I can go in with a vague idea in my head of what I would like, and then be offered loads of creative input from the stylists to get the ideal look.
Also, as a student, I am always looking for good value for money. Not only to GC offer excellent student rates, but they also reward loyal customers with special treats every few visits!

Fantastic review Kate, glad we could be of service. See you soon.
Never been confident in any hairdressers ability to carve my crazy mane into anything resembling my self-percieved persona yet alone give me a doo that I was completely satisfied with. . . that was untill Andrea Webb, a senior Designer at Guy Christian came to the rescue. Positive professional service (pleasently presented in person and place) and such a great result!
The last time i was this content with how i looked, i was too young to go to school(that’s soooooome time ago)so i’ve experimented with some funny hairstyles inbetween, trying to find something to work for half afro half wavy fine hair has been like . . .yeah wotever.
Eager to test Miss Webb’s magical hands for fastidiousness or fluke, i returned to the Salon a month later to top up or trim down, whatever the lingo is and yet again Andrea has mastered my mane with trademark deft and determination plus a little twist in styling change that only professionals could create.
I’m over the moon with the whole experience and even happier to finally have a decent hairdresser for once in my life!! _
