6 reviews of Asda Stores in English
Whilst I quite like the store layout, I cannot get enthused about Asda’s own brand products. I have made an honest lengthy trial of goods but to no avail. Tinned goods are inferior, pastries are inadequately filled, bread hard and so many other things wrong. However, the store is good. Prices very fair on non-Asda goods. Parking ok.
This is a bit of a trek from where I live by bus and I lose track of the all the free buses that go to all the supermarkets. It does seem quite well stocked and we have got petrol there as we normally go by car. The fact its open 24 hours is not important that I can usually wait a few hours to go to a supermarket now although when the children were young it probably was handy.
nothing like shopping at good ol wallmart XD
bein a student the past 3 years i think you can imagine how much this place has saved me (well kinda).
open very late hours sometimes and massive range of products….i just feel do darn wrong when i walk away from here with shopping…like i done something naughty :O
Agree with the comments about Asda frozen products - appalling. Broad beans with tiny ones (only about 3mm across) that just wouldn’t stay frozen, they were so tiny. Black bits in the bag when it was freshly opened. Lots of beans heavily scored by whatever machine is used to cut them off the plants. Frozen spinach is okay, tho I notice that compared to Waitrose its minced a lot finer. Thats not really a problem, just a comparison.
Without a car, it can be difficult to get to - there are a couple of buses that park directly outside, but only from the city centre. However, amazingly, they do have a free bus service from various parts of Brighton and the surrounding hinterland - and it seems to give enough time to do a proper amount of shopping before return. Its a great idea - and since George in the centre of Brighton closed down, its one of the only ways to find George clothes, which can be excellent value.
Their petrol is the local standard for cheap, tho the queues can be horrendous.
Their cheap cornflakes are the best of the cheap stuff - nice big flakes, not overtoasted!
So, not bad - I wouldn’t try to go there no matter what, but its hours and its prices make it a valuable addition to the supermarket scene here in Brighton.
ive been to this asda a couple times and im unsure of it. the ceiling are low which gives it a really closed in crowded feeling which isnt great when you have kids wailing and its busy shopping day. they do have some really good bargains on the usual food stuffs and entertainment always giving a reasonable price war against other entertainment shops.also a large area for toys and clothes. Ample parking and a petrol station which is always busy.
This is probably the least customer friendly branch of Asda I’ve ever used.
As it is open 24hrs I have shopped at all hours, and find problems whenever I go there. In fact I only use because it’s on my way to/from work, and it’s open 24hrs.
I frequently find the shelves empty of want I’m after. Sometimes they are on the trolleys waiting to be put out, but more often than not, they don’t have them. And whilst we’re talking of the stock trolleys/roll-pallets, why do they have to leave them in the middle of the aisles? If you shop during the evening or at night, I is often impossible to actually go down some aisles because they are blocked by stock waiting to be put out.
And the staff have a habit of standing and chatting amongst themselves totaly oblivious to the customers. Sometimes it takes saying “excuse me” a couple of times, or a quick jab with the trolley, to actually get them to move.
And I would never buy anything frozen from them. I have seen, and been told by an ex-employee, that frozen products are sometimes left out waiting to be put in a freezer for longer than half an hour.
However, they do have some good points such as being 24hrs. Also they do some weird offers. This week I have bought two packets of cereals for £2, when they are £2.15 each; and five Muller Lights for £1.00 when they are 54p each! Bargains!
They also have a petrol station which is normally one of the cheapest in the area
